I'm a fan of quite a few bands that have or probably will go down as 'one hit wonders,' and I was just wondering what everyone's favorite 'one hit wonder' was. Some of mine are: New Radicals The Verve Pipe Mighty Mighty Bosstones Semisonic Mark Morrison (yeah..i know..) Also, what are some guys who are still on the charts right now that you think will be prime candidates for one hit wonderdom...?
Granted, I don't listen to top 40 anymore, but I love the 80's (era I grew up in) and there were scores of 1 hit wonders including: In a Big Country - Big Country Safety Dance - Men without Hats Der Komissar - After the Fire 99 Luftballoons - Nena Cars - Gary Numan Tainted Love - Soft Cell Rock Me Amadeus - Falco Tarzan Boy - Baltimora Major Tom - Peter Schilling When the Heart Rules the Mind - GTR I know there are more...I just can't think of them right now.
This band was essentially just one guy. He left the business to become strictly a producer which he said was always his first love.
Not necessarily one of my favorites, but she had some decent music not too long ago - Natalie Imbruglia.
The biggest one hit wonder of them all: Jimmy Ray Remember the catchy tune: "Who is Jimmy Ray?". btw, anyone else think Natalie Imbruglia looks and sounds like Nelly Furtado?
Big Country has turned out quite a few hits and was feverishly active with new albums and touring just this year.
There are so many one hit wonders, where to start?! I'd have to go with Right Said Fred. You know the song, "I'm Too Sexy". Anyway, that one gets my vote.
Nelly the rapper? IMO, no way. Not yet. My signature says it all. # 1 by Nelly off the Training Day soundtrack. Awesome movie. Cool song. Whatever happened to Len? Remember "Steal My Sunshine" off the GO soundtrack.
He doesn't fall into the one hit wonder group. Nelly has a few decent hits, but I doubt he'll stay around long since all of his $hit sounds the same.
Didn't one of the main members of the Verve pass away shortly after the release of Pipe, and I'm fairly sure someone from the band subsequently released some very good solo material, what was his name... richard something Now as for Silverchair, sure the first album was their best, but i suppose it depends if you one count success on commercial success in the US. Agree with Lardboy Rimbaud is definitely a one hit wonder
Yeah, I know. His name was Gregg Alexander, and he actually wrote or produced (maybe both?) a #1 hit in the UK for a guy named Ronan Keeting or somethin like that...the song was "Life Is A Rollercoaster."
