you cant trade them strait up. it won't work against the cba rule. williams get paid almost 3 mill, head only gets paid 1 mill. battier and juawn for randolph works. if portalnd are looking for veteranship and class acts for roy.
Why not trade for Dirk....or KG....or O'neal...honestly....why not try and go big....Dirk probably will not happen seeing as we are a division rival...but wounldn't that be something??? Why not trade for KG or O'neal...hmmm....goes something like this....Call up New Jersey....offer a deal of Battier, Howard, Sura (med exeception), Head, and a resigned Bonzi Wells for Vince Carter...who is then shipped to Indy or Minny...thus giving us either Garnett or O'neal....then we convince the hell out of Wallace to sign for the MLE and Francis will come back for the Vet....Our next coach better not like three pointers and he better develope some bench... Yao Garnett/or O'neal Wallace Tmac Francis now while on the subject of fantasizing for gold....I discovered that while I like this frontcourts rebounding, size and defense....it gives us little range...which is fine...granted we have something on the bench...which we don't....so perhaps a better deal for us would be for Dirk....but none of these will happen....but what about Seattle with Lewis and Collison....hmmmm....o.k. get this...we call up Seattle offer a solid sg duo of a resigned Bonzi and Head...both of which can contribute and Head can play point....about as well as Ridnour did last year.... plus he can shoot...so he and Allen can light it up....those two can make up for Lewis's scoring punch at half the cost...plus we givve them Howard and Battier who are stand up citizen guys that Seattle likes...Battier gives them so tough D and Howard gives them vet savy to go along with Allen....we throw in Sura (they get that off the cap now) and a future first and go for gold now....would end up being Howard Battier Head Wells (Sura's money) Ft. 1st For Lewis (who could leave anyways and would probably like coming to Houston) Collison and why not, Seattle gets some depth and Veteran leadership and a young prospect...Wells can some what ease the pain of Lewis if he comes in shape.... Yao Collison Lewis Tmac Francis Now this gives us the slasher we need who would provide more boards and solid 3 point shooting...yeah he isn't the glue guy Battier is...but he gives us a scoring punch we sorely lack...I am all for bring back Lewis and I think he can be had with a Battier package...Collison is cagey like Harpring...having him will give us size at the pf and a guy would can scrap up all the missed Rebounds Yao won't get....solid mid range shot which is always left open for our pf's...once again, in this line up Francis can play the slasher and let Tmac create... not a lot of depth so I propose we still go after Wallace cause that kid is like a Marion-lite...can gaurd all the positions except the 5....our bench will be Wallace, Big Jake, Hayes, Alston, V-span, Novak, and our pick...thin bench but solid line up....JVG could coach this team...he makes any team play defense....but relies too much on individual talent to carry th offense...we have a lot of guys that know how to score so they won't need to much help...ok that's my fantasy GM proposal. -V
Why would anyone ever buyout somebody then? They could just cut them. I think if you buy them out they go off the cap. I'm not sure how that works though. Some of the Larry Coon fiends would probably know.
Darko Milicic Zaza Pachulia Cedric Simmons Alexander Johnson Lawrence Roberts Eddie Griffin last year of his contract Channing Frye as good as David Lee is playing he is not as untouchable as he once was. Although I think we really should go after Maurice Williams, Morris Peterson and Jerry Stackhouse first. I think one of them hopefully Maurice Williams can be attainable using our MLE he has all the characteristics of Mike James just not as selfish. Honorable mention Chucky Atkins. Our powerforward position is really bad but our bench is even worse we need depth. Houston needs scoring punch of the bench and a coach that can use Yao and TMAC to their full potential as a offensive players get them some lay ups and encourage team movement will help Luther Haed too, IMHO that person is not Jeff Van Gundy but it is Rick Adelman and by the way the Portland Blazer team he coached into the final with Clyde played defense too.
those are some good pfs i actualy would want, alexander johnson and cedric simmons. some people on this board wanted them last year. does anyone know why johnson was picked so late in the 2ND ROUND? i still havent found out why. right now i rather have him than novak. channing frye probaly is touchable now, with the fact hes not getting that much playing time. probaly wouldn't get him. except if they buy out steve. and their looking for a 3rd pg, we could possibly trade vspan for him. their gm is isiah you know.
You can save real money by buying a player out if they'll accept less than what is on their contract. For example, Philly was going nowhere, CWebb wanted out, and Philly saved a few million by agreeing to a buyout and letting him go play for a winner. The player salary still hits the cap. And 90% of the names mentioned in this thread are pipe dreams. The Hawks aren't trading Marvin Williams or Shelden Williams for what we have to offer.
I doubt they'll give him up, but I think they would be willing to ship away Kmart for cheap. I think they could take a chance on him if he is healthy. He would play well alongside Yao.
I swear i keep screaming this name and no one says anything. Luis Scola is widely considered the best pro player not playing in the NBA. Luis Scola. 6'9 PF from the Argentinian national team that won the gold medal in 2004. Just 26 years old but still a seasoned vet in international competition. I dare you to find me 1 Argentine player in the NBA who isn't in his teams rotation, you cant find one, they are all solid. In October 2005, Luis won the Spanish Supercopa with TAU CerĂ¡mica and earned the Most Valuable Player award. He was league MVP in 2005. His rights are owned by San Antonio and all they want is a first round pick which we have a low one to offer. Here is his draft report from 2002. NBA comparison: Kenny Thomas Strengths: Has great hands, and NBA upper body strength. Will not have the problems that other Euro players like Kirilenko and Gasol have been facing. Also, a good athlete with leaping ability and runs the floor pretty well for a big man. Used to playing high-level basketball at the age of 22. Played in the Euroleague Finals last year which was the highest level of club competition in Europe. Also, almost doubling his averages every year (last year: 8.8 ppg, this year: 16.4 PPG). Besides that, used to play in a big rotation which shows that he is not likely to have "staying on the court for longer minutes" syndromes. Has good ball handling skills for a big man. Can go coast to coast and finish it off with a dunk. Can spot a fellow big man from a variety of positions. Also, a good pick'n roll player. Can score by popping up from up to 15 ft, rolling down with control, find an open teammate both on the perimeter as well as down low. Very good at passing to big men, especially from high post to low post which will be beneficiary for zone offenses. Has the experience, the vision and the guts to select the correct pass. Knows how to score around the basket whether it be a fade away, a finger roll or a bank shot. Uses his body well not to get blocked. Also, contains a nice touch with a right hand jump hook. Weaknesses: Not versatile. Can only play one position, namely power forward and may be a little soft for the position. Probably will have difficulty in defending big PF's. Not possible for him to "steal" some minutes from either C nor SF as he is literally too small for one and too slow/small for the latter. Needs to improve rebounding skills. Good at crushing the boards when running from the wing but not nearly as effective from a stationary position. Must improve upon his 65% free throw shooting. This guy is probably the best PF we could get, that would still be young, relatively cheap and would still have some upside to maybe grow our top two guys into a top 3, much like Ginobli did for San Antonio. We couldn't get a more NBA ready big man for the 26th pick.
He's more of a center and would be too slow to play at 4 next to Yao. Would make a nice backup C if he cost the LLE or under.
Is Mikki Moore a UFA after this year? If yes he might be obtainable with part of the MLE but I do admit it will be hard to get him away from the Nets.
We should adress the pf position thru the draft. The guy i like is Jared Dudley from BC(Boston College for those who don 't know. Dude is a monster on the board and he plays with so much intensity and heart. We wouldn't get punked by Okur if he was here. Plus dude is a team player
I think Darko is a good fit here at least at Power Forward, His a block machine so his Defence is definetly decent. I see potential to be a definite good role player. I don't know how much he will cost though but given his number 2 draft status he might demand more then he should deserve
On draft day trade 2 first rounders for joakim noah yeah its pricey but we have to do what it takes to win....this guy has rockets basketball written all over him....High energy/intensity guy, a great rebounder, can finish off the basket, and he can help yao out...
