KG is soft too, not good idea. Durant? How is this going to happen? Noone is going to trade young for old. No trade is allowed until we get a new coach. If JVG is still in, Yao could be traded insteads of TMAc. Just look at what Yao has said about the loss.

these threads need to get locked. only player you would trade Tmac for is Kobe, Lebron, Melo, Wade, Agent 0.

Tmac just needs to understand if his shots not on HE MUST DRIVE to the lane. he cannot defer to others, hes the leader

McGrady isn't getting trade, nor should he, so this thread is moot.

uh what? u mean he has to improve his jump shot? yeah thats a given but he needs to realize what made him a great player was that he was able to score at will in the inside not the outside.

yeah his back isnt 100% healthy but he should stick to what works best for the team

i dont like how some of you are discounting some extremely valid points about tmac staying and getting better players around him by just saying that we are "tmac-only-fans"

    thats crap

tmac is the rockets, and you know it

we, even as home fans, underestimate just HOW good he is...not to even mention our little 22-10 stint sans-Yao, have ya'll not seen the games this year?

when tmac goes, so does our offense...he is our best ballhandler/playmaker, and is one of the elite in those categories in the league, however underrated he is for those sections

but yes, he needs to get smarter and drive, baby, DRIIIIVE

this is the dumbest idea ever.... we had 1 playmaker on our team in tmac and you want to get rid of him and have 0 playmakers... kwame is a scrub... bynum is about the same for now... and odom isnt any better then battier... the only 2 players i would think about trading tmac for would be kobe or dwade... other then them take this tmac trade thread and lock it down because it is stupid

We need a Game 3, Game 4 guy, not a Game 7 guy who suddenly became passionate about the game after a loss.

Of coz it’s not all T-mac’s fault but he is the most tradable asset. T-mac is a very talented by no-heart player and how many years he’s been in the league? 10 years? 11 years? So that’s not gonna change. This Jazz series is the latest proof. I don’t see the Rockets trading Yao becoz of his market value and he’s still got room for improvement.

So I’d say go for something like:
    T-mac + whoever(s) (except Yao and Battier) – Ray Allen + Rashard Lewis/Chris Wilcox
    T-mac + whoever(s) (except Yao and Battier) – VC15 + JKidd

=> Yao, Wilcox, Battier, Allen, Alston
=> Yao, Hayes, Battier, VC15, JKidd

But afterall, perhaps the real problem is the coach

Come on guys.......... Tiger I got much love for you but why is this even a thread? I didn't know we were rebuilding.......... Thats what we would be doing if we traded TMac. Yao is good, but by far not our best player. So we trade our best player and get a better shooting point guard and then all of a sudden we're out of the first round?

If we trade TMac it doesn't matter how well our point guard can shoot because there will be a lot fewer open shots. Like TMac he gets Luther, Shane, and Alston all those open shots. You take him away and you have a problem.

Plus if Utah doesn't have to double team Yao......... doesn't matter if we have sharp shooters. Once again no open shots. I say we put better shooters around TMac not trade him.

we don't need to trade mac, yao or battier...the rest are all fair game...to see all these people on here wantig to trade them shows what kind of bandwagon fans you are...pathetic.....did you want to trade hakeem after a few years?
stick with this team..they will do something special..they only needs a few pieces and then all of you will pretend you stuck with them all the way..

man zero stars. Trade t-mac and this team is definitly not coming out of the first round, maybe not even in it. T-mac carried the team to the #4 seed. If T-Mac went out for 2 months and Yao for only 9 games, the Rockets would not even be in the playoffs! The other players just needed to show up (or we can conclude that they are just crap). The Rockets need to do some good trades in the offseason. By the way a healthy/good Bonzi would have been very usefull in this sseries.

Anyway if yall want to get rid of T-mac and he can be traded to the Lakers i'm all for it. Let me see what Phil can do with a t-mac (pg) kobe (sg) combo (yes i would leave yall, im a player fan not a team fan).

i dont think t-mac is going anywhere. and i dont want him to. he knows what we need, he needs a deeper team around him. what i wish t-mac would do, is look at the option for filling those needs and realize that they dont have the cap room to do so. so t-mac needs to step to the plate and restructure his contract to give them some room to work.

This is crazier than trading Yao unless we could get someone Lebron and we're not getting him.

We won't be able to get much value back. T-Mac's salary next season is too high for most of the teams. His back is still a problem...

I think this proposal makes more sense than people are allowing.

This is not about dumping McGrady or Yao for subpar performances. These guys are superstars.

But, we went out in the first round again, and have pretty limited prospects for improvement in the future. We have the MLE and a late first-rounder this year (just like everyone else), plus we can hope for improvement from Spanoulis, Lucas, and Snyder. If things go reasonably well, we can expect about the same seeding as we got this season. Maybe we'll advance and maybe not, but probably won't be frontrunners for the trophy. And, we'll have another late first rounder and another MLE and another help that some young guy will get better. How many chances are we going to get in the Yao/McGrady window to see if this formula will work?

But, Yao has a longer window than McGrady. If we can get a couple good assets from a team that needs someone like McGrady to make real postseason noise (like the Bulls or Pistons), then we could reload and make a new try to get Yao a ring.

Superstars like McGrady are hard to come by, so it is hard to make a decision to give one away for lesser or riskier players. But, the risk of keeping him is that we continue to be good enough to not get the assets we need in the draft but not good enough to be a real contender -- and watch the window slowly close for McGrady and Yao. That's no fun. I'd rather be bad and have a bright future than be stuck in this first round mediocrity.

You could just as easily trade Yao for guys to help get McGrady the ring. But Yao has the longer future; he's younger and less injury-prone. I'll be happy to have both back next season and try again. But, it seems reasonable to me to blow out half the team and take a step back, to try to take 3 steps forward later.
