IIRC...Yes, those are the little league fields where they scout the other team...The Eastwood Park scene is near the end of the movie where they play some little neighborhood scrubs.
I think it was the Brook Forest subdivision in Clear Lake. I could be wrong though. The Nassau Bay subdivision across from NASA was used for Apollo 13.
I just watched it. They have a practice but they don't play another team. But it is the place. I can't believe it. When I watched the movie on Sat I thought it kind of looked like the place but I thought "no way". I drive by there all the freaking time and I used to go eat lunch there. The baseball field has a fence around it now. The tennis courts are still there. But now there is a pool where before there was an open field. Thanks!
That's the place...I haven't seen the movie in years but i grew up near there and always recognized it.
I'm the same way about shooting locations for Wes Anderson's first two films. I even lived in a building that is in a shot near the end of Bottle Rocket. I didn't find this out until I watched the movie one night while I was living there. That was a wierd experience. "Hey, I'm there right now!"
Slightly off topic: I used to get drunk at a bar in Seabrook called "Chuck's Castaways". After it closed down, a director filmed "Full Moon over Blue Water" in that building, starring Gene Hackman, Teri Garr, and Burgess Meredith. All three came into the Kroger store in Seabrook where I worked. My friend rode her bike to the set and got to meet all three stars. She says Teri Garr was a b**** to her. Don't know if the building is still there.
I remember watching RoboCop 2 a couple of months ago and recognized the Wortham Theater downtown during the final battle scenes. They added a bunch of stories on top of it via CGI. The Chase with Charlie Sheen and Kristi Swanson was filmed mostly on the Hardy Toll road and Sam Houston Tollway. The Mexican border was one of the toll booth areas.
I thought so. When I was a kid and that movie first came out, my team used to play our games there. I remember I used to recreate the scene where Kelly almost gets his ass kicked by those redneck tobacco chewing Houston Toros. I used to run as fast as I could down the dirt road that leads to Bissonnet...just like Kelly did. Yes, I LOVED that move...
Forget that man. Did you see how Kelly Leak flicked his cigarette - The coolest kid ever. He was awesome in Losin It with Tom 'Wimpy' Cruise. Too bad Jackie Earle Haley smoked at that age or else he might have grown taller than 5'2". He looks like a cross between Steve Nash and the Monopoly Guy. THANKS FOR THE FREE PARKING!!!
I remember going home from college (SamHoustonState) one weekend and taking the Hardy Toll Road from 45 over to 59. The toll booths were painted to look like Mexico and there was a big "Welcome to Mexico" sign. My mother saw them filming chase sequences on part of HWY 90 in North Shore before that hwy was completed and in use. As far as "My best friend is a Vampire" - many of the school room scenes were shot at one of the Baytown High Schools (Lee or Sterling..don't recall). When I used to Produce Educational Video's, we used an actor that was an extra in that movie. During the movie they show the Fountains on Montrose by the Zoo several times. In Reality Bites, there is a scene of Winona Ryder & Ethan Hawke walking through the park downtown..I forget the name...its the one with all the fountains, close to the theatre district. From what I understand, Wes Anderson shot a few school interior shots at North Shore H.S. (the Old one). But I've watched Rushmore a dozen times, and only recognize one thing...the red elevator from H.S. He mostly used the Catholic school on Westheimar (I think). I know he shot most of Bottle Rocket around Dallas.
In Rushmore, Lamar High was Grover Cleveland High School and St. John's was Rushmore Academy. Other scenes were shot at Del Mar Stadium, the Warwick Hotel and a house on South Blvd. Bottle Rocket was shot mostly in Deep Ellum and around the Fair Park in Dallas. The final break-in scene was shot at Hinckley Cold Storage on Commerce (which is now called the Texas Ice House), and the book store they held up was behind NorthPark Mall. The motel they stayed at while on the run was in Hillsboro. Bob's house is a Frank Lloyd Wright house that is just off Northwest Hwy, west of Inwood Rd. I found it once, but you can't see it from the street very well because of a fence the owners put up.
Slacker was filmed in Austin (doye). It's interesting that the only locations remaining (I think) are the Continental Club (where Ed Hall plays) and Mt. Bonnell Park (where the guy throws his camera at the end). It's strange, but you can literally go through the entire film saying, "Wow. I remember hanging out there drinking beer." One of my coworkers is in the second scene (jogger) and he's still living. I guess that counts.
