As evident in the Jazz series, we just arent good enough. Couldnt win a road game and lost game 7 at home. Championship caliber teams win games on the road in the post-season. PERIOD!

With that said, I dont think this team can get much better with Yao and T-Mac maxed out! Im not saying that arent worthy of a max contract because both are great players, but for the best interest of the team, they should re-structure their contracts.

It doesnt matter if we have Yao and T-Mac as long as we have "crap" for the other 10 guys. Battier is ok, but everyone else has huge weaknesses!

We need a starting PG (Chucky Atkins) and another offensive post (Jamal Magloire). For us to get everything we need as a team, its going to take Yao and Mac taking a little paycut.

I dont want a team that has the potential to be a championship caliber team.... a team that we HOPE will get past the 1st round. We need a team that IS great, and that anything less then a Western Conference final appearance is a failure! Screw this "lets get past the 1st round and build off that" BS...we deserve better!

    completely worthless thread.

    They can't rework their contracts.

They can, however, give some of it back to the rox fans who had to endure that horrible series.

Well, i think he does make a good point. With those to big contracts its hard to get immediate free agent help with nothing but the mle to work with. Couple this with weak drafting and there isnt much room for major improvement. Why is tmacs max contract so much more than yao's a year? if there wasy a way to free up just a little bit of that money we might could land another impact player.

    I find it Hilarious ..
I mean I am hard on T-mac and Yao but
    let's not get crazy .. . . .
Asking them to do something we ourselves would not do . . .
Now their Playoff Checks. . they can give those to the needy

    Rocket River
maybe use them to buy more ROWDY Tickets or something

Neither deserves a max contract, IMO.

In that logic, not more than 5 players in this league would deserve max.

They could start their own energy drink company and sign potential free agents to endorsement deals for Yao-Soda or T-Mac-Attack High Octane.

My god don't people understand baseball basketball and football have different rules.

Just cause a football player can rework his contrat doesn't mean a basketball player can.

Its just not possible, thats the equivalent of asking Tmac to grow 5 more inches or something.

speaking of contracts, even if we bought out Juwon's contract, he would still count towards the cap for the duration of his contract, he just wouldn't be with the team and would have accepted a settlement amount, but on the books of the team for salary cap purposes, he would remain.

Each of the team that's left has good point guard, except maybe Cleveland.

    That's what we need.

Didn't Shaq do something like this a few years back? He was making $25+million per year, but reworked it to make $20 mil per year.

no no no wrong wrong. You cannot rework a NBA contract. Only do an extension to the exsisting years.

In the 95-96 season he signed a 7 year 120 million contract.

He did not accept an extension from the Lakers and when he was traded to the Heat he signed a 5 year 100 millon dollar contract extension.

The 20 million he accepted per season was probably less than the market value and was far less than a Max deal he could have recieved.

BUT he did not rework his deal, he simply signed an extension and didn't sign for the Max allowable amount per the collective bargaining agreement.

I hope the Rockets win the lottery even though they cant be in it.

I hope the Texans sign Peyton Manning with the MLE even though it doesnt exist in football.

I hope Red Auerbach is the new Rockets coach even though he is dead.

Do your homework before starting a thread.
