T-Mac + KG would be perfect. KG is the type of big man that can run on a fast break - something our 7-6, TO-prone, soft center can't. We all saw how much better this team was when Yao was injured. Why? Because the Rockets run the break, played more fluid ball. So, yes, KG>>>Yao. We should build on two stars - true. But what if our stars are just not made for each other? Or what if trading away for another guy would be better? Besides, I think trading Yao for KG could also get us some picks.
No thanks. yao is 26 and KG is entering he's decline years. as i said before , what dosent kill you makes you stronger. get tracy and yao a real bench and a real PF, this team will be legit. bringin a coach like Adelman who ill maximaize our offensive potential and were talking.
Yao is untouchable, it's just becasue he turns Les to be the fourth richest NBA boss. Les would lose so much money if he trades Yao.
With Francis at the helm Yao Ming would have come to his senses and eventually requested to be traded. Francis was such a poor playmaker.
a few reasons that TRADING YAO for KG would be a great idea (IMO) or possible. 1 - the league has changed a bit and is more based upon speed. kg is must quicker and faster than yao. if you don't believe me, please review games 1-7 rockets vs jazz. yao's lack of speed greatly hurt our team's overall performance on offense and defense. there are no speed drills that yao can do to change that guys. he is slow and ALWAYS will be. 2 - kg is a better all around player than yao. i give yao the edge as far as the "true" back to the basket game, but garnett has one as well. but garnett also has a perimeter game. i give yao a slight edge in patrolling the paint because his sheer size scares opposing players from coming into the lane. but we can all agree that kg is far superior rebounder and shot blocker. kg can score in a variety of ways as well. yao's game is fairly one dimensional. 3 - a man of yao's size CANNOT sustain a long career before his frame gives out on him. (granted this is a guesstimate on my part) yao has already had a few injury problems, but i give him credit for working hard to come back each time. i would venture to say that both yao and kg have about the same amount of "good years" left in them... almost like 1 year of mileage on yao is like 3 years of mileage for kg. yao may be an excpetion to this line of thinking, but i just don't see a guy of his size playing more than 10 years before he just simply peters out. (again IMO) 4 - kg and tmac provide versatility in regards to building a team, playing lineups, etc. since yao is so one dimensional (don't get me wrong, it's a GREAT dimension!) it allows teams to hone in defensively. utah demonstrated this in the series. it's easier to stop what you know is coming... wouldn't you agree? yao also plays only one position. this leaves the rockets in a bind when trying to match other teams lineups. IMO it would be easier to find guards, forwards, or centers (probably hybrid forwards) to plug in around kg and tmac for cheap(er). those are just my thoughts guys. i know alot of us are very partial to yao, but i think he: a - exceeded our expectations as far as developing b - his value is as high as it will ever be c - a team "like" minnesota is more likely to make a move for yao to start over, sell tickets, etc... d - i believe it will be easier to find pieces to fit around kg and tmac than yao and tmac. whether yao stays or goes i will always be a rockets fan. i just think this might be the best way to improve the team.
So what if Yao is 26? That doesn't guarantee he's gonna be better than Garnett. He won't run like Garnett, that's for sure. He's a different game. How bout we get Garnett here and get a real bench and an athletic center. This team would be legit. Then we bring an offensive minded coach. Sorry man, but I don't think any other coach is better for Yao than Jeff. Jeff hid a lot, and I mean a LOT, of Yao's deficiencies on defense. If JVG goes, Yao should go as well.
if minny wants to rebuild around yao, they wont give rox picks, but rox can dump howard's contract to them. it would be yao+howard for kg straight up.
Nash would beg to differ. Plus, TOF and YOF are equally as notorious. If you trade away Yao, and T-mac breaks down again, the team will be worse than the Timberwolves are now.
This is a great idea, Yao for Garnett, Randy Foye, Trenton Hassel, and 10 future 1st Round Picks... and some cash.
I love Yao, but I would consider a trade to Boston if they end up with either the #1 or #2 pick. Yao for Boston #1 or #2 pick 2007 Al Jefferson Boston #1 next season and what ever is thrown in to make the salaries work I would do that deal to get either Odom or Durant plus Jefferson to team with TMac, it makes us very much more athletic, younger , that is the direction the better teams are going.
How about we just get Ryan Gomes to play Power Forward. That would help Yao out a bunch. He is a big brusing power foward that would open up the floor for Yao and rebound rebound rebound. I still like David Lee better though.
Yao is BYC and Minnesota is over the cap. A third team that is under the cap would have to eat some salary. This would make this type of trade very difficult. Something that would work would be: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/featur...722~2447~825&teams=16~10~30~10~16~16~16~16~16
