I believe the salary cap is somewhere around 53 million

If bonzi opts out and Sura retires, we should be about 3 mil over the cap. So we cant get bibby and we cant get billups with the MLE.

the only way we can get better is through a trade or start getting more production from our cheap talent. After all success in the nba depends on young, cheap talent: Barbosa, Diaw, Billups, Ginobili...etc.

Yup, Sura's contract is only garunteed for 1 million but its on the cap for over 3.8 so that is a way to get something back. If you packaged him with Head and V-span you could trade for a player making as much as 8.5 million a year, which is a pretty significant player.

I also believe because we dont have the best tradable assets we have to start looking at slightly defective players, either off the court or injury issues. I feel we have too many injury issues so at this point i'd start looking at bring some guys in that are maybe not top level character guys, because those are the only players we might be able to get in a trade because of our assets.

Yep, with the cap and the way we treat FA's, there is no way we are going to be in the running for any of the top tier FA's or trades. This is no different than last year, but we were too picky and it killed us.

I wonder if a new coach can get Bonzi to stick around and give it another try? He may be the best option we have for a 3rd playmaker. If no, then DM needs to be very creative this offseason.

yeah of Alexander, if he had more money could always do what Dolan did in New York and just go over the cap.

The worse part of all of this is Chuck Hayes was the only guy who helped his stock! He is still to undersized for me to give him any kind of offer. He would be a great bench player probably but we really need a bigger PF who can play both sides of the floor.
