It wouldn't change the fact that he was not healthy and he ******* the Lakers over by not telling the Organization about his recent medical history.

Rudy never wanted to ******* the Lakers over. afterall he is a scout for the Lakers you know?

but he should've been more aware of his health issues after signing that extention.

Okay that's a bit too harsh. Jerry Buss probably talked him into it; ultimately it was the Lakers decision of who to hire.

If you want to call it a "bad" hire, I won't argue with that. After all, the support around Kobe has got to be the lowest IQ in the history of basketball. I really don't know how anyone can possibly take this team seriously.

I'm shocked the Lakers have managed to make the playoffs the past couple years; it's absolutely mind blowing. Just proves that as much of an arrogant ******* Kobe (the athlete) is, he is by far the best player in the league.

Buss thought Rudy would've been healthy.

    he was confident.

thats why some people think the Lakers fired Rudy while releasing health reasons NOT the case my friend.

i would love to see him coach the Rockets just so you can see the pain he put on the Laker fans.

the guy is not healthy anymore. his coaching magic is FINISHED.

Bush thought we'd win the war in Iraq.

    he was confident.

A Rudy/Elie front would be acceptable in my eyes. Similar to Morey/Dawson, although its never been done in pro sports. If you know Rudy's mentality I dont see any way he could turn down the job. Its like fighting for your country.

    PISS on the Lakers.....

Bring Rudy T back to Houston, this is not a Lakers board, it is a Rockets board.

    Who wants Rudy T back.

I like JVG and I think he should come back...
But if he doesn't, I like this: Rudy + Mario Elie

I can't believe you guys think rudy can't coach. He took that 2001 team of steve, cuttino, and walt williams to 45 wins. And had he not not got sick in 03 season the rockets would have made the playoffs. And he had the lakers winning before he left. And lets not forget he won the bronze with a bunch of scrubs. Didn't the US not even place in Indiana. He should not be allowed to GM just coach. He is a great coach.

Rudy wasn't exactly a great coach x's and o's wise. He did a great job managing a veteran team, but I was never particularly impressed with his inability to make adjustments. Inside out and iso wouldn't look too much different under Rudy than under Van Gundy I don't think.

I'd rather not tarnish Rudy T's legacy any more than it already is. Besides, the key to Rudy T coaching here was CD, and he's retired. Forget about Rudy.

I think Larry Brown is done. Toast. Two tumultuous years at Detroit sandwiched by some really crappy crap at Philly and New York.

Someone said Rudy T wasn't good at making adjustments? That's ridiculous. You must be thinking of Gundy. I can remember countless times that Rudy drew up a nice play that turned the tide of a game. He was an underrated strategist.

If Rudy was named coach i'd buy season tickets tomorrow.

    Rudy ain't coming back. Fuggedaboudit.

If the Rockets get a new coach, they need someone who can relate to today's NBA players better than a middle aged, baldheaded honky who never played.

It makes Mario Elie as Rockets coach feel like a fit.
