There is no way you can win with a point gaurd who can't shoot, Rafer was terrible all series. If you look at all teams that advanced they got a good point gaurd play.

True, but we need a true, mobile, tall decent shooting PF even more.

Rafer is the reason we came back. Without his steals rockets wouldn't have been close

Mike Bibby has an opt out this year. He would be leaving a lot of money on the table but if someone can convince him that he can be the difference maker, that his stats would improve on a better team and he could be considered among the top point guards he just might be ready to think about winning a ring.

PG is a more urgent need for this game. Only one playmaker in Tmac is not gotta cut in playoffs. We need a PG who can penetrate, pass and finish layups, not taking those stupid 3s in 30% all season long.

I think we kneed a point gourd. Much better than a point gaurd. BTW, I am drunk and can still spell better than you.

Chauncey Billips is going to opt out this off-season. Lets get him.

With him as PG, we would never, i repeat never get abused again from the PG position again.

We do need a new PG, but without Rafer we would have been blown out tonight. He brought us back with those steals and big 3 in the 4th....

WE DO NEED A NEW STARTING PG THOUGH!

we need a point guard who can really dish the ball so t-mac doesnt have to do everything. its sad he has so much responsibility on offense. NO ONE can create their own shot on this team and they need t-mac to set them up.

Les would never spend that type of money, plus we're going to be stuck with Rafer till 2010 unless there is team stupid enough to take him from us along with Juwan Howard. Hell we could throw in John Lucas III, Vassilis Spanoulis

Alston made clutch 3, but no questions about his game. We really should trade him

I disagree, Alston is a decent PG. What we need is a reliable 3rd scoring option so we don't have to rely on Alston's shooting. That could be a PG or a PF. We can use Alston as backup. Alston's not bad. I say trade some of those useless bench players and get someone to share minutes with Alston.

Rafer Alston's not bad. He's a cool guy, an able PG, but obviously, no, he shouldn't be playing 40+ minutes every single game in an entire playoff series. We need a better PG. But that doesn't mean we have to get rid of Rafer. Rafer's a luxury off the bench. He's just not going to be playing 44 minutes any more.

how about Antonio Daniels, he and Rafer can split time at PG, and he might come cheap

Considering all the pg's of teams left in the playoffs, rafer sucks! Steve Nash, Deron Williams, Baron Davis, Tony Parker, Kirk Hinrich, Chauncey Billups, Jason Kidd, and "at least he's better than rafer" larry hughes. We desperately need a pg who can shoot and handle the ball so he can take some of the burden off t-mac. Rafer has skills but he would thrive in a running system but not in the system jvg runs.

No, I'm sorry. Rafer won't thrive in a running system. Because he simply is not fast enough downcourt. Great handle, yes. But he can't beat the defense down the court and he sure can't finish. There were several plays tonight where he stole the ball and then he can't beat a SF/PF down the court for the bucket. He just doesn't have that ability. He cannot press the attack like other point guards.

It was so obvious this series that our achilles heal is our guard play. We could get no easy shots. We've got a 6'9" scorer running the offense, and our point guard was literally getting abused by the opponents defensively.

I like Rafer a whole lot. At the beginning of this season, I really thought he would be a 9-10 assist man with his ability to handle and get the ball to 111 and Battier. But, our offense became McGradycentric and Rafer cannot shoot well enough or finish well enough to be effective against playoff level competition. Sure, we can get by and win 50+ games in the regular season with him. He's good enough. But, when you get in the playoffs against the bigger, faster, quicker teams, you gotta have guys that are quick, strong, and can either finish or shoot effectively at the very least.

We lost this series from the point and then when we brought in Luther it made our mismatches even worse. We just have too many one trick ponies and we have no one that can create for 111. And that is what we need is a player that can create for 111 and be the definitive 3rd scoring presence along with holding his load defensively. Rafer cannot do any of that. Surely, we will not come back next season with him at the point for 40 mpg. I would lose confidence in our FO and coach if that happens.
