These guys were complete losers against the Heat last year treating the media like crap. Avery's "you tell me" press conference, and Cuban's screaming and crying both to cameras and in his blog.

After the GS series loss they have been awesome. Avery was pure class at his presser and Cuban just supported his team and released ZERO blog comments.

Is this a move purely for PR or did this young owner and coach actually grow up a little?

    Avery I will agree with.

Cuban is still a jerk. You must have missed the TNT interview where he is in tears but still throws some personal attacks at Nelson.

He also told the camerman right after the game to stay the **** away from him.

So no...Cuban still hasn't grown up yet.

My guess it Cuban is thinking deeply about what to do with this team and don't want to say anyting premature.

It's very shocking... really, to lose to an 8th seed.

Well an owner like Cuban has to be held to lower standards. He was probably being mobbed by media (wasn;t that on the court?) He said he does not like Nelson as a person but gave him props as a coach. That just seems honest. We all know they are not on speaking terms. Going home and writing that the NBA sucks in a blog is childish.

I don't understand the Cuban bashing in this forum.

He behaves exactly like Rockets fans on this forum after losses... only a little more reasonable. At least he waits until they actually lose the series to cry.

Well not really. He was steady posting blog entries during a few series i remember. The problem is he acted a bit to much like US. We are fans, the ones paying the bill. We get to act however we want to. Even if you say Cuban is losing money it does not matter, that's his choice. Owners and coaches need to be held to higher standards. Fans are supposed to be crazy.

You cant bash Cuban's comments as an owner because only the crazy owners get interviewed like he does anyways! J. Jones, Steinbrenner, etc...

They got beat so bad that there wasn't anything he could say. If it was close, you could look around and try to blame ppl but the series wasn't close.

True... but that's b****ing about the other team.... I'm thinking more about b****ing about his own guys.

In any case, it should be interesting in Mavs-land this offseason. My guess it he'll try to make some splash move and bring in some Chauncey Billups/Vince Carter type.

How? Trade? Signing? They can't just sign him...

I honestly don't think that they will change too much but I'm probably wrong.

It was just bad luck the Warriors slipped into 8th seed. Had they not, Dallas would have won in 4 or maybe 5. They would probably beat us or the Jazz, and they would probably beat the Spurs, but i'm not so sure about the Suns. They'd probably steamroll whoever comes out of the East.

So had the Warriors - the one team they can't matchup with - not slipped into 8th seed, they probably would have gone far...

I'm sure Cuban understands this, if he blows up his 67 win team, that's his fault. Either way...they'll probably be just as good next season.

But that team doesn't deserve Avery Johnson. He makes them a lot better than they are.

Besides the fact that they play in Dallas, my biggest problem with the Mavericks is that they have all this swagger and they insist on talking sh!! and disrespecting everyone around them when THEY HAVEN'T DONE OR AMOUNTED TO A DAMN THING AS OF YET!

Look, I can deal with Shaq or Duncan talking crap about someone, I can somewhat tolerate that although I wouldn't respect it because those guys have been there and done that; they've actually EARNED their status. However, when you are a bunch of perennial losers/chokers and a bunch of pompous arseholes like Dirk, Cuban, and Jason 'the Shet' Terry are, you have nothing to say and no one wants to hear you say anything. Earn our respect first and THEN open your mouth...now there's a novel concept!

in last years finals they got jobbed..

in the first round this year, they get EMBARASSED..

easy to talk noise after being jipped in the finals..

hard to talk noise after getting run by a #8..

Let me ask you guys this, if Cuban had been our owner would you have hated him for sticking up for us non-stop and mailing to the NBA a bunch videos about bad calls against Yao? Yea, I don't think so...

Yes he can be annoying and obnoxious, but you can't deny what you're seeing from him is the passion for his team and it must mean something for you guys to be so bothered by him.

I was happy that the Mavs got destroyed in the first round, b/c players like Dirk, jason Terry, Stackhouse and Devin don't deserve it...and for the record, Cuban did not cry.

I keep hearing "the NBA needs more owners like Mark Cuban"

    Oh really?

The NBA needs more owners who publicly decry the NBA front office and officiating crews? The NBA needs more owners who hurt the credibility of the league as a whole? The NBA needs more owners who make it a point to put themselves, rather than their teams, in the spotlight?

    The NBA needs that, huh?

    Hogwash.

Why? Why shouldn't an owner be a crazy fan?

Seems to me the Mavs have been in quite the spotlight ever since Cuban bought them - far more than they ever were before. Exactly what credibility has the league lost? Is it bad to a shine a light on bad officiating?

Oh, so throwing stuff on the court causing an NBA player to get in a fight with you is just something that happens, because the fans are "supposed to be crazy"?

That's because the Finals were total garbage. It was obviously rigged by the referees. I would have done a lot more if I was Cuban.
