I think you entirely misunderstand what I wanna express. It is plain and simple that Yao really dang sucks this series so far (not review from his stats), and the only time I would say some harsh to T-MAC was the time he was really disappointing us. In addition, what is the accurate definition of YOF in your mind? Please donot put any so called title on someone. It is quite obvious who has contributed most to rockets so far, (absolute not YAOMING, please note what I say that NOT YAOMING, the Chinese guy from china)

Defensive? LOL, maybe I deserve this word. BTW, thanks for introducing who Ralph Sampson is for me. Finally, I really want rocket to jump out jazz-swampland 2moro. :)

A YOF (or Yao Only Fan) is a person that only follows the Rockets because that is the team Yao plays for, was not a fan before Yao got here, and will not be a fan when/if Yao leaves. One symptom of a YOF is calling for Yao to be traded to another team so he can be more successful or so the YOF can see him play more often.

If the definition of YOF like that above, i should be a YOF, however, Even though Yao leave Houston, Rocket still would be second favorite team in my list.

sorry, even i being YOF, but i have no such symptom for a fact. What i wish is Yao stay at houston and win several champions (at least one)for his first NBA team rather than leaving and help others against houston.

I think most of the YOF will continue post (olny a little drop in the traffic) in this board but doing it in the NBA Dish. like happens with Vince Young, the texans didnt select him and all of the VYOF (thats the name?) still posting about him in the hangout.

NBA Dish will overtake GARM as the most popular forum. Clutch will then have to decide whether to shut down the Dish or promote TheHangover to the Dish Mod.

Clutch would make a killing if he offered everybody with player inspired nicknames from Steve, Cuttino, Yao, and McGrady to change their monikers for a small tip jar donation...

Some YOFs have already turned into clutchfans. But I doubt that has anything to do with you. The way you talk won't help a tiny bit, to say the least. While I can not say I am not doing stereotype here, people who feel too good about themselve in any county(in cluding in US) are not loved as much as they like to be.

there's a tradeoff. who will we get? We'll have SOMEone taking up that chunk of salary. We'll get an influx of fans based on the structure of the new team unless we go into a 90's LAClippers-like mode.

So overall, I'd say just a slight decrease because more YAo fans will leave than new fans come on.. and a ton will stay through it

Yeah, that happens more with YOFs that live in other cities in America that have or are near NBA teams. I believe there were several LA area YOFs that posted threads about him going to the Lakers (for crap like Chris Mihm). This isn't as much of an issue with fans outside the US (and the Toronto area) because it doesn't really make much difference if someone is living on the other side of the world if Yao is in Houston, LA, Oakland or NY.

I know I' m responsible for at least some 93-94 knowledge dropped on the YOFers. I'm sure they know who wore #11 and won a championship pre-Yao.
    I'll take that responsibility.

I dont care if people love me, I care if they love the Houston Rockets! Not just one player.

There's a huge difference between Vince Young fans , Texan fans, Houston Rocket fans, and Yao Ming fans.

Vince Young fans were created cause:
    1. VY grew up a hometown legend.
    2. MANY CLUTCHFANS went to UT
    3. The OILERS are the TITANS. Regardless of the hate for Bud Adams. there are some die hard OILER/Titan fans who like the team.
    4. The Texans are young EXPANSION TEAM. They have won NOTHING for the city of Houston (This is a fact Texan fan, not an insult).

So for football, out of the Oilers, Texans, and VY. VY is only won who won some form of championship for his fans. The Texans management are idiots (Texans fans know that ), now they got rid of casserly they maybe back on a track for legitimacy. The Texans (EXPANSION TEAM) is trying to build a loyal fanbase (kudos to the hardcore Texan fans), but they have pissed off their potential fanbase already with bad moves (look at David Carr and tell me that was good)

    Rocket fans:
    1. The Rockets have been here FOREVER, they have a HISTORY full of PRIDE and family.
    2. Rocket fans and Houston fans have suffered from ZERO CHAMPIONSHIPS for so long, that when the ROCKETS WON 2 CHAMPIONSHIPS, People felt they have done something for them.

Compare VY Fans to YOF Fans. VY fans have been football fans first, they know about the NFL, the rules, the history etc. YOF Fans were not NBA fans first. They chose to be because of national interest.

Think about it. Ask any VY fan or Rocket fan about why this board is called CLUTCHFANS, they could give you an answer.

Do YOFs know why this is called CLUTCHFANS? or CLUTCHCITY?

I'm sure YOFs are fans of the NBA.

It's just now they have a horse in the race.

Yes you are right its different a yao fand than a VY fan, but what I meant to say with the comparisons between Yao and Vince is that If Yao left Houston, they will be a ton of threads of him in the NBA Dish, like there is a lot of Vince Young threads in the Hangout.

The difference is, this is a Rockets board, and there are a lot of Rockets fans that are VY fans. They come here because they are Rockets fans, not VY fans. YOF would not be Rockets fans anymore if Yao leaves, so they would have no reason to come here and post in the NBA dish. Maybe some of them would do that because they enjoy this community, but I would think that the majority would soon disappear and never be heard from again.
