Embracing thinly veiled racism dressed up as a parody poking fun at liberals is (besides being hypocritical) a threat against civility.

    Rush the Magic Junkie
    Lives in his brain
He moans and groans and bellows and grunts
And we know he is insane

    Rush the Magic Junkie
    High on his pills
He says what whitey wants to hear
And the sponsors pay him still

    :D

nice - who cares what limbaugh thinks anyway? the guy is a hypocrite w/ no cred.

3 times divorce who rallies on about the sanctity of traditional marriage and a drug addict who used drugs illegally who is on record saying that all people who use drugs illegally should go to prison.

the secret service offers protection to "major" presidential candidates, but only w/in 120 days of the election. it is possible that obama has had threats, but perhaps this is just more of a cautionary action.

Apparently some popular White Power web sites have been "jokingly" going off on how to take Obama out. One even calling on someone to pull a "Lincoln" on him.

I imagine the reason he assumed you did not was actually a credit to you. He probably assumed that if you HAD read the original article you would reference it. In context Rush's remarks (in this one very unusual circumstance, and I hate the fact that I'm almost sort of defending him) are not nearly as offensive as they would be otherwise. As vile and repugnant as I believe Rush is there is a degree of hypocracy in repudiating his song while not mentioning the LA Times article.

The LA Time op-ed gave Rush an excuse for being blatantly racist.

If you read Obama Displays Maturity, Laughs Off "Barack the 'Magic Negro'" Song , you might notice that Rush spent a thousand words or so explaining why his racism was not really racism (much like Clinton re-defining the word "is").

    And

Would it be stretch to say that these white supremists might be spurned on by the likes of Rush and his racist songs?

When a semi-legitimate medium like the the LA Times publishes an editorial that is as offensive as what Ehrenstein wrote, it deserves to be parodied. Based on his history, Rush probably shouldn't do it, because most people won't get his point, but someone should.

    Yes.
