im a huge rocket fan living in SF but after seeing how the game is being played in houston and how the warriors are raping the mavs infront of my eyes I can't afford not to get back to my warriors bandwagon
tinman...weren't you the guy that said that the Warriors were going to get crushed...hmmm...interesting how that turned out...would say I told ya so...but it's just what's on everybody's mind right now...and what if your wife is Jessica Alba...win-win? -V
yes, i didn't know the heart of Baron Davis and Stephen Jackson. Also forgot about the hatred of Cuban by Nellie. I was still rooting for the Clips! But since they didnt make it. I have to root against the Mavs. GS was fun to watch. they played with no fear.
It's one thing for the players and coaches to look past their opponents. But us fans? That's our right. It's not like we , personally, are going to overlook the Jazz and get sloppy in Game 7. I'm more optomistic about our season than I have been in months. Remember...for months and months, it looked like we'd be facing the Dallas juggernaut in the first round, and, barring a miracle, the only question is whether we leave in 4, 5, 6, or 7 games. Now? We have an excellent chance at going to the Western Conference Finals. Even after the Game 6 loss, I'm in a terrific mood. Put differently, what would you rather have: 1) Sweeping the Jazz, then playing Dallas in Round 2? (Assuming that Dallas looked like the monster from the regular season) 2) Game 7 vs. Jazz at Home, and then playing Warriors in Second Round? I'll take Door #2 without blinking. If we win a Game 7 at home, we'll have home court advantage in the second round. Think about that for a second. Two weeks ago, if you were told that all the Rockets had to do was win a Game 7 at home, and they'd have home-court in the second round, you'd probably be pleased. The Rockets season hasn't looked this bright in a long, long time.
But, there are people on the Rocket's bench that could help to even out the mismatches a bit. JVG has really made it hard on himself this year, he has let complimentary pieces rot on the bench and failed to find a niche for a proven NBA commodity. I think JVG's stubborness may cost him his job. DD
Somebody call the waaambulance, we talked about the warriors before we're supposed to. ignore the crabby old ladies. Sorry if I don't want to post more trade tmac / yao threads. Honestly, I'm more worried about the Warriors than I am about the Suns. Somebody already said this but they are faster than us in every position. However, I don't think they play uglyball defense. And we have home court advantage.
Tmac backed down in the last GS game, he was not up for the intensity they were bringing because the Rockets had clinched it and GS was still fighting. He basically was benched by JVG, then the bogus "my back hurts" excuse to save his pride. Right now is Tmac's time, is he going to step up and lead this team, or is he going to cower in the corner? The Rockets should be favored to get to the WC finals now.....if they don't get there, JVG should be gone. DD
and time for a 7'6" center to STOP taking fade away jump shots............how ridiculous is that!! Yao plays so SMALL!!
I wish Yao would turn strong and do a quick pump fake and then get the Jazz in foul trouble. Our whole team needs to take on the contact and stop backing down. DD
Your right, the whole team needs to step up....but talk about losing your HEAD...........where has he gone He just can't shoot and his decisions on passing into the block has always been questionable but now its magnified when turn overs in the playoffs are crucial.......Horry used to be so good at it when Hakeem was here......how I long for the days when Dream took over a game. But we need players that can shoot....and contribute in other ways....Harpring as much as he gets on my nerves, can down right play and can cut to the basket and hit a 15 ft jumper and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty.....our PG can't stop a penitrating guard, which I wish we had...williams is killing and if we get by this round even a hobbling B Davis will kill us!!
if our fans actually show up, get off their asses and get crazy (talking to you, lower bowl), we will pull out game 7. if we do advance, we will get swept by the warriors. god...that team is just so surprising. i watch their games and actually enjoy myself, during rockets games i want to kill myself. i'd be praying, but i don't see how we could win a single game against golden state.
Three games against GSW this year: 1. T-Mac and Yao both played, combined for 58. Chuck got 15 rebounds. Houston won 118-90. 2. T-Mac out. Yao went 38/18. GSW (on the backs of Mike Dunleavy push) wins 109-107. 3. T-Mac played only 7 minutes. GSW concentrated everything they had on keeping the ball out of Yao's hand. Luther Head scored 30 points on 13(!) shots. Strategy worked, GSW won 110-99. Replacing Dunleavy in the rotation with Stephen Jackson isn't that big of a help against the Rockets, and replacing Murphy with Harrington is a net negative. The truth is this: If Golden State concentrates all their effort on shutting down Yao, McGrady will torch them. If Golden State plays Yao straight up, Yao will look like Wilt vs. the 60s. B-Diddy will have a good series though.
And that way, you can say I told you so. And if we advance, you can also say I told you so. Life must be good.
I believe the Rockets can win game 7 but I am in no way looking past Utah to GS. However, after last night with the Warriors beating Dallas and sending them home crying... The GS Warriors will always be my SECOND favorite team in the NBA! Almost made me forget how poorly the Rockets played to lose game 6. Whatever the result, I am looking for Rockets to leave it ALL out on the court Saturday night! GOOO ROCKETS!!!!!
