There's more calories in that than you think.

Try that and you'll be surprised. I know I was.

Wendy's side salads are amazing. Packed with fresh, cold veggies. If you don't get the fattening dressings (balsamic vin is a great choice, my fave), it's a very low calorie side.

I'm not too big on fast food lately after seeing Super Size Me (I don't care if people think it was ridiculous, that image of Morgan throwing up after eating McDonald's will definitely stick with me). But...as far as Subway goes, the sandwiches with 6g of fat have no cheese. I like the cheese on my subs!

I work at Jason's Deli. Although it's not fast food, I swear to God...the turkey sandwich on wheat with lettuce, tomato and honey mustard is sent from heaven. Add some fresh fruit to it, and it's my favorite meal.

I've eaten the wheat bread at Subway. And it's certainly not the "good" kind of wheat. Granted, it's better than white bread or any of those flavored kind. But certainly not the stuff you want a lot of on a diet.

It depends on the type of carb, of course. But food like rice, noodles, white flour, thin wheat flour, etc. are very easily digested by the body. At or near the same rate as sugar. Definitely not conducive to a diet. I'm not saying no carbs like Atkins is good, but it's something one should eat in moderation for a "healthy" diet.

    870 calories for a veggie no-rice burrito!!! Holy sh*t batman! :( i was guessing closer to 500 calories :(

Add in the rice and you get 1110 calories "snack".

    Cheese has 100 calories.

    Guacamole has 170 calories.

Thus, an almost uneatable veggie burrito with no rice, cheese, or guacamole has 590 calories.

McDonalds's salads are between 300 and 400 calories, including dressing. I do not how many calories Wendy's salads have but they taste better than Micky D's.

Thanks for the replies, but some of those places are local. Anything national (I live in Dallas)?

Zen in Austin is pretty good and relatively healthy food. At least compared to the BBQ, Pizza, and pastor tacos I normally eat.

It is amazing how many people think carbohydrates are bad for you. Obviously, most things in excess aren't good for you, but fruit and vegetables are full of carbs. Your body needs carbs.

Subway is not health food. Maybe heathier, than a burger and fries, but not by much. Especially if your having your sandwich with cheese and mayo and knocking back a bag of Doritos with it.

The way I get my burrito bol still came out to be pretty healthy.

I get blacks beans, tomato, corn, red tomatillo sauce, guacamole, and lettuce. Comes out to 498 calories and only 2.5g of saturated fat. I hate the meat at Chipotle so I always get veggie.

That was for 2 slices per sandwich. Subway only puts 3 slices per 6 inches on their subs and look at all that bread.

But where do those calories come from? You have to be careful of which chicken sandwiches you choose. You mentioned the chargrilled chicken sandwich from Chik-Fil-A and that is an excellent choice, 270 calories only 3.5 grams of fat. Now take a look at McDonald's premium grilled chicken sandwich. 420 calories 10 grams of fat which 90 calories come from this fat, that's over 20% of the calories from fat. Not all grilled, chicken sandwiches are made the same. I was just saying that they're not all as healthy as made out to be.

I should have posted in this thread last night. I'm pretty sure that the healthiest "fast" meal that you can eat is Vietnamese take-out. It's no slower than Whataburger, and the vegetables are actually fresh.
