That's about how long ago I last listened to Rome religously. I used to laugh at people who told me the show was immature and I'd soon grow out of it. Now...well, for the most part I find the show immature and I pretty much grew out of it.
i don't mind Romey, its the clones that drive turn me off. they're all trying soo hard to imitate Jim in style and content ... and failing with miserable aplomb. as soon as he starts taking calls i'm "bye-bye".
they have fries there??? man bdubs has gotten cheap...they used to have patato wedges. those were good
For me, Rome is kind of like the Simpsons. It was at one point very good, with lots of laughter... and now I'll only watch/listen when there's just nothing better to do. The jokes aren't that funny, the interviews are lame, and the responses to the interviews(both Rome's ass kissing and his listeners' ass kissing) are unlistenable. On a side note, I've NEVER, EVER found the smack-off, or any essay-length pre-scripted calls, to be entertaining. Even back when I listened a lot.
Ahh. This is so refreshing. Reading a thread about what happens on 610 where nobody is crushing us. Sure your crushing Romey but hey! He's in LA! I'll be there and we are giving away playoff tickets so if you are on the soufside stop by and say what's up. It'll be fun even if you don't like Rome.
Try carrying a 3 hour radio show by yourself and then come back and complain about Rome saying the same things repeatedly or for drawing out his rants. I find the show to be pretty entertaining. Like some others have said, I don't listen to the whole show or even listen every day but about 3-4 hours of Rome a week is pretty entertaining. Not a fan of the TV show, however.
I havent heard Jim Romes radio show, but I think the tv show is alright, I love his final burn segment, also the opening usually starts bashing some people for stupid stuff. I could go without the forum segment, and some of his interviews are good others not so good, but its something to watch.
I heard today and yesterday's show...havent listened since 96-98... in fact, they played Houston's promo with the "two time two time" defending champion and Chance got a shout out... that was pretty funny... "Im the only one who's won twice...twice" then he played the same clips over and over including the speech by the football coach about "Go play Intramurals Brother" he did the exact same skit both days. he plays it once and then then chops it up and interupts the clip with his interjections... I have to agree with the poster ico4498 who said that the clones are trying too hard to be like Jim... especially when they put the emphasis on "ASS" like Romey does... what does everyone sign off with, "War" something? they might as well call themselves "Sheep"
the tv show is a condensed version of the radio show. he uses the exact same material, just no clone interaction.
