I know a lot of us are still getting over the loss of Hakeem, but I still have a desire to see him play well.

Tonight he scored 15 points of 7-12 shooting, 8 rebounds (4 offensive), 5 steals, blocked one shot, had an assist, all in 20 minutes. Too bad Vince Carter shot 6-25 or they might have won, or Hakeem getting himself in foul trouble (5 PFs). I wish Hakeem the best, though parting on better terms would have been nice.

    B,

It's good to see another "Hakeem supporter" in the fold.

ZRB, TheFreak, and I welcome you into the dark corner of the basement of CC.NET where we're allowed to meet.

The foul trouble is bothering me too.

I agree, at the beginning of the game he was quick with the steals and disrupted a lot of shots. He made some vintage Dreamshakes and had me wishing he was with us...until I started thinking how we would have had that for less than half a season...I hope he does well and people don't get too critical of him when he does go down.

    B,
You used to be one of my favorite posters, but not after this post! Just kidding!:D

You don't want to be associated with the likes of ZRB,DREAMer, and TheFreak do you?:p

Some people may not believe this but I hope everything goes well for Olajuwon in Toronto. It was obvious he wasn't happy here in Houston, and all anybody wants in life is to be happy.

Of course, I still will not forget about him talking out of both sides of his mouth and trying to screw the Rockets, but I won't bring that up here. I'm just glad that we won't have to worry about him suffering another injury again and missing 35 games or pout and complain and demand a trade or release.

I refuse to put any stock in this game at all. I was watching the second half and I saw Carlos Rodgers drain a three pointer. As a matter of fact, I am now waiting for the sky to start falling...:)

    Manny,

My hope is not to be associated with anyone in particular with my posts. I'm sure if you read most my posts close enough that I leave enough room to go the other way on another post. I try to keep an open mind, and often I can jump from one side to another in an issue.

I was very displeased myself with the double talk Hakeem did this summer, and throughout his career. When it comes to sports I try to look at players at different levels. I may not like a player as a person sometimes, or some of the actions they take off the court, but that doesn't mean I don't respect their game. I will always remember the great things Hakeem did on the court as a Rocket, yet the bitterness about him leaving has quickly faded away. There is really no point in getting too upset over things I have no control over. Did Hakeem lose some of my respect as a Houston icon, yes, but not enough to forget about the extreme joy he brought to the city when he won two championships. You can find flaws in any person if you look hard enough, and with athletes being in the spot light all the time, their flaws are even more vunerable.

Imagine if your conversations and actions were being followed by millions of people. You may think you would act differently, and try to set an example, but over time you would most likely relax and your flaws would start to be exposed. And that's not exactly a bad thing either. I dislike how the media wants our sports figures to be perfect (or close to it). I think this may be because most of us wish to be perfect, or close to it ourselves.

Anyway, I just wanted to post something positive about an ex-Rocket who we haven't had much positive to talk about lately. I think it is quite healthy to cheer for Hakeem and the Rockets at the same time. Both sides did things I wasn't happy with, but in the end, I'm still rooting for both. Though to be honest, I'm much more excited about how Bullard does in Charlotte (probably cause he left on much better terms), since he's unstopaBull. (Man I can't get Air Bull out of my head tonight (the song that is).)

    DREAMer,

I wouldn't exactly consider myself a Dream supporter, but just a fan who wishes him well. You may find me defending him in some cases, but other cases I may rip into him myself. It really depends on the context of the situation. I think I just realize he is human, and that he has internal conflict at times for him to say one thing, then later act another, which many of us, including myself do.

I am more happy that Carlos Rogers had a great game finally. He deserves to be on someone's team, and you know Dream will be there, regardless of his play. So I am glad Carlos finally played like he is capable. Dream, on the other hand, did have a good game, but still looks a little overmatched by a lot of the younger guys. I hate to see him struggle, but he was always the last one up the court, and I think he has lost some weight, because he gets thrown around in the paint a lot more than he used to (rebounding, mostly).

    B,
I agree with your points. I was just giving you a hard time. It is pretty well-known that it seems on the BBS that you have 3 people who defend Olajuwon at every chance in ZRB, TheFreak, and DREAMer while everybody else is on the opposite side. My last post was an attempt to be funny..so, it didn't achieve the desired effect.:)

Why do you want to see that happen? Are you a Jazz fan?

Do you also want to see Carlos Rogers get injured?
Do you also want to see Charles Barkley get all fat and get related heart disease?
Do you also want to see Sam Cassell play no defense, not pass into the paint, and dribble off of his forehead?
Do you also want to see all the other ex-Rockets fail?

If not, then why just the Dream?
    If so, then you're a sick b*stard.

Even guys like Sammy, who I loved to hate when he was here, I only hope they do well in their careers.

Complaining about Dream is one thing....

But do not ever compare Houston's greatest basketball player in the history of the universe, to that punk Pippen.

Gator or ROXRAN... who do I dislike the most right now? Tough call.

Nobody has a problem with people who are hardcore Hakeem fans because we're all fans to a degree. But it just gets tiresome when something bad is mentioned about the Rockets and people are like "The Rockets brought it on themselves letting Dream go." Or when people constantly rip on the Rockets for trading Hakeem, but when people say Hakeem wanted to go they're attacking his integrity. The some same people who get upset when people call Dream Hakeem "The Greed" are some of the same ones who are calling the Rockets organization classless for trading him. It's the same thing just in reverse. People want fans to cut Hakeem some slack, but cut the Rockets some slack. Sure Hakeem helped put Houston on the map, but Houston and their fans never would have had that chance if the Rockets hadn't drafted him, so respect should go both ways.

    DREAMer,

Did Carlos Rodgers openly discuss how he'd rather be playing for the Heat in the middle of a season in which he was still under contract with the Rockets?

Did Charles Barkley openly discuss how he'd rather be playing for the Heat in the middle of a season in which he was still under contract with the Rockets?

Did Sam Cassell openly discuss how he'd rather be playing for the Heat in the middle of a season in which he was still under contract with the Rockets?

You Hakeem apologists seem to have forgotten that whole episode.

The only ex-Rockets I have any ill will towards are the ones that showed a complete and utter lack of respect toward the Rockets organization and their fans. And I'm referring to an incident that occurred loooong before the Rockets "disrespected" him by offering him some $4 million a year.

    Stop embarrassing yourself.
