if lewis and steve would take less money that would be a great offseason,trade jl3 for something too,i dont think we have alot of money,i know its more than last year,with bonzi and sura off the books
Ya know, Stevie could be our version of Barbosa off the bench. Super sixth man! Course if ya talking get Barbosa or Franchise...ummmm Gotta go with Barbosa lol
I don't disagree Skip brings a lot to this team, but he is forced to play to many minutes. He is on the floor more than Steve Nash, that is because he is the only NBA ready ballhandler that we have (Sorry V-Span and JL3).
There are only two playes in the NBA, that have played more minutes than Rafer has this postseason. Lebron James Allen Iverson Nothing against Skip but I don't think he is in the same category as them. He needs some help so that he can be more effective when he is on the court.
Which position would he play? Playmaker Point Guard. Shooting Point Guard, Shooting Guard. Remember that Steve is on the shorter side and we alreay have a problem being a team with short players, although Steve brings a lot of talent.
The guy that would like to get back into Rockets's uniform is Cutino Mobley not Steve. Cutino is a classy guy always nice and hustle for every games with no whinning.
Don't you think that Mutombo should also retire and them we could have his money also? Just look at Mutombo in the playoffs and one can clearly see that his game is drastically reduced. His playing in the middle of the season should be considered his last hurrah!
BECAUSE ---- Although Alston is only fair at being a playmaker, Francis's playmaking was almost non existant, when he played with the rockets.
If Francis came here, he would be great as a 3rd scorer, and someone to attack the basket. A Francis/VSpan PG combo would be a very nice 1-2 punch and give the team so much more flexibility than it has now. DD
As I said earlier, we HAVE TO get Francis if he is bought out. At the mean time, what would happen to the crowded back court we already have? First of all, I think that will pretty much nail VSpan and JL3 to the bench. Snyder may still come in against certain match ups. Novak will continue to sit too. Now we will have TMac, Shane, SF3, Rafer, Head to form the regular rotation fo the back court. Maybe JVG will now run a 9 man rotation? Now instead of keeping Yao or Tmac on the court, we can keep Yao/Tmac, Tmac/SF3, or Yao/SF3 on the court at all time. At the end of game, Yao/TMac/SF3! That will be a beautiful thing But one thing for sure, TMac will be the one runs the show. SF3 -- back up PG, SG Rafer -- Start PG but share minutes with Stevie at PG; Head -- backup SG (reduced minutes); Snyder -- Backup against certain match up Novak -- Bench warmer. JL3 -- Bench warmer. VSpan -- May he will ask for a trade, his chance of getting playing time will be even less;
If we did end up acquiring Steve in the offseason, how awkward would that be with him and Tmac, huh? Kinda weird knowing they traded him and 2 other starters just for Tmac (Reece Gaines doesn't count). I don't know if Steve likes Tmac, he's the reason Steve and his boyfriend eventually got separated. Anyways, I would love to see any drama unfold if Steve gets here.
Sure would give this team some speed and finishing capability to create their own shot!!!! Will not happen though - there is a hair deprived gentleman that would melt down at the thought. Hello Doghouse!!!!
Steve is the anti-JVG, or vice versa. And Steve won't settle for the backup at this stage of his career, and no one is willing to use him as a bench while paying his contractor. Maybe the Knicks.
Francis is hands-down the best unused asset in the NBA. There are guys who make as much as him that aren't as good as him. The best thing about him being in the doghouse? He isn't wearing his body out. I say we work out a deal with NY where we only pay a portion of his salary. It's better than them waiving him completely. I know it would be weird at first for Steve- it would be like living with your wife's new husband- the one she dumped you for. You know it's not his fault, but you can't help but carry a grudge. I think he would get over it, though.
His free throw attempts for the last 4/5 games of the season.... 8-11 FT 11-13 FT 9-11 FT 9-11 FT Add that crucial ability to get to the line to his improved three point accuracy and you pretty much have a no brainer. Only area of concern is he hasn't played a full season since 04/05 in his first year in Orlando. His knee problems are definite area for concern but his injury woes didn't start until the moment he was traded to the Knicks. Let's hope that was the real problem.
hopefully there won't be any drama over steve having to pick a new number once Sura's number is retired...
