On a side note, part of me is glad that Chuck Hayes didn't get ANY First or Second Team votes from the league's coaches. Personally, I thought he was one of the 5-6 best post defenders in the league this season. But it's good to know that the league's coaches don't value him too highly. This will make it a little easier to re-sign him this summer. Thanks for keeping his market value low, coaches!
I don't mind Kobe or even Lebron(to an extent) getting in a slot before T-Mac. But if Wade and Shaq gets higher honors than T-Mac and Yao then we might as well start fan voting for All-NBA teams.
He got in a tussle with Kobe, and flops regularly. Apparently, a bunch of journalists equates that with great defense.
Because he is still getting credit for doing a great job on Iverson in a regular season game 6 years ago.
There are a lot of good defenders out there-- Artest, Duncan, KG, Bowen, etc... but Battier and Hayes are the best defenders on the best defensive team in the league, efficiency wise, and there should be some recognition given for that. Sure, JVG's system for D is very very good, but you still need the right players to execute. The Rockets didn't do nearly as well with Stro and David Wesley playing Chuck and Shane's minutes last season.
Its a shame Shane Didn't make one of the teams, but Mcgrady sure is a good defender as well take a look. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UYU2pCCP3mQ"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UYU2pCCP3mQ" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
players that should've made the team over Kobe and Bell - Q.Ross - L.A. Clippers S. Battier - Houston T. Prince - Detroit D.Harris - Dallas R.Artest - Sacramento Everyone except for the last one is not all that well known, but last had few off the field troubles this year so that would probably could made the 1, 2, 3 team. This NBA and MLB awards nowadays are so PR motivated. There are good players selected for certain awards and certain teams, but other selection you kind of scratch your head and say how did he get on team or how did he get that award...I remember that these are journalist who select these players. Journalist = PR = Bias = lack of objectivity
