A new study shows that to not be true. Or at least the only cause. Because they show that just 1-2 years out of school (no kids involved) females were already getting paid less, even though they had better grades in school. One does not cause the other. At least you have shown no causality in your post. It is also a fact that since schools have been integrated the cases of diabetes has increased. That is a flat out fact. However there is nothing in that fact to show that school integration is a cause of diabetes. Throwing out two facts doesn't prove one caused the other.
Actually, there was a recent story in the Wall Street Journal (I think it was WSJ - I read the re-print in the Chron) that adjusted the average income of women based on loss of time due to childbirth and found that they still averaged 15 percent lower wages than men in the same jobs. My gf got her MBA from Rice and worked a lot in healthcare during that time. One of the things they studied was lowered wages based on health-related issues. Men actually work fewer hours and take MORE time off due to illness than women. I used to think that was the case as well.
I guess Jeff may have already addressed this, but you simply don't know what you're talking about. What you are saying is an age old excuse used to deny women, of equal ability, experience, and education, equal pay for equal work. It's yet another example of the sexist attitudes far too many men have. Wake up and smell the coffee.
Guys here's a thought: Quit your b****in and just don't get married. I don't know many women who would marry men with attitudes like some of you guys. I for damn sure wouldn't. Marriage is hard and you get what you put into it. If you know you don't want to put much effort into then don't. Further more all this woman ating has got to stop. Men make life harder for women and then b**** and moan about how hard life is after divorce. Just don't get married. Not that hard.
My impression is that you're college age, right? Anyway, I sure hope you take advantage of those who came before you and paved the way for greater equality for women, in and out of the workforce. What you see here that disgusts you is the tip of the iceburg. It's obvious. Far worse is the subtle discrimination women face in society. Here, it's hitting you over the head. In the real world it is more likely to be devious. The end result is much the same... inequality. My wife is an executive with the state, with a very high income. As well as she's doing, she should be doing even better. She's had to work twice as hard as some of her contemporaries to reach 90% of what they are making, which is the exception, believe me. Most don't do nearly as well getting close to the same salary. Good luck!
