Round 1: Dallas Mavericks vs Golden State Warriors

Seriously...from the owner down, what an unlikeable team. There was a great article earlier this year on ESPN's page about how the writer couldn't get excited about the Mavs winning so many games, because they were so unlikeable. I could not agree more.

if we meet them in the 2nd round, i wouldn't dismiss the Warriors that easily. the Warriors are an 8th seed by name only. they are not an 8th seeded team wehn it comes to talent. they had one of hte best records since making the trade and getting BD healthy. their defense is also underrated. they WILL give Yao a lot of trouble.

you think Rafer is having trouble now with Deron Williams? wait till Davis gets a hold of him.

 

i think we will lose to the warriors easily. they will shut down yao just by fronting him. then they will shoot lights out while we brick most of our shots. only reason dallas is not getting blown out by 40pts each game is because they are making some of their shots.

but who knows..maybe our defense will change the way gsw plays.

 

our defense will absolutely change the way gsw plays. see the uncontested layups that GS seems to get all the time vs. the Mavs?? those don't happen against the Rockets with that kind of regularity.

if we make our 3's, we beat virtually anyone. in that sense, we're very much like the Rocket teams that won championships.

Do you know who wrote the article? I would like to read it. I would like to know that my dislike of the Mavericks is not irrational.

 

wish i could find it. i think it was on Page2 of ESPN.com but i'm not positive. it would have been at least a month or so back. right around the time the mavs were streaking and looking like a threat to break the NBA's record for most wins in a season.

 

If I was Avery, and Cuban was really about to actually fire him, I'd just quit. On second thought, screw that... if he quits, he doesn't get more of Cuban's money.

So, get fired... but hold your own press conference stating how this team is nothing but a bunch of pansies... from the owner down to the media-hype-created MVP. Talk about how Cuban pretends to be the Steinbrenner of the NBA, and yet his team has never won jack-s**t, and won't ever do so if they continue the "elitist" approach to all things (namely complaining about how they get reffed).

Then, have your pick of jobs for teams/players who actually are more about substance than about hype (hell, be Nellie's successor at GS... wouldn't THAT be something).

 

Exactly. They are a poor-man's Phoenix Suns. Everything that Phoenix does that causes us problems, they'll do too. Now, they aren't as good at it as Phoenix, so we should still be competitive, but I suspect it will a tough matchup.

Then again, our offense would be so thrilled to not have to deal with the Jazz physical style of of play, it might go crazy as well.

Randy Somebody from the Fort Worth Star-Telegram (much better basketball analyst than anyone with the Chron) was just on ESPN Radio and gave the Mavs zero chance to win the series.

 

I hate Cuban and can't wait to see the mavs eliminated. Go warriors!!!
