I have noticed several times during the regular season and last night after the four point play, T-Mac can not make his free throws when the fans in the Toyota Center chant "MVP"! And then he lose his FT touch for the rest of the game! Please give ourselves a favor, do not distract him when he is at the free throw line.

He will not get the MVP title this year and does probably deserve it less than Nash or Kobe. Right or wrong, that is another debate. But at least, please do not disturb him when he is shooting free throws. He looks like he does not take it well, and any points are welcome is those tight playoff games.

We talked about this before. All I can say is that T-Mac needs to concentrate and make them. All the fans are doing this, not just Houston's. It's like a new fad now. Let's chant "MVP" when our best player is at the line.

It's sad, but college b-ball fans are so much smarter and better fans than NBA fans. They are dead silent when the home team is shooting free-throws. Also, when the shot clock is running down, they chant the numbers so the players recognize that the shot clock is running out if they didn't already. You will NEVER see a home team have a shot-clock violation (unless the shot was an airball) in college.

I wish the Red Rowdies could at least chant the numbers of the shot clock when it gets to 5 (just scream your lungs out, 5!... 4!... 3!... 2!... 1!...). I don't know if they'd be loud enough, but they should try.

I agree. The MVP chants are getting out of control across the entire NBA. Hell, fans up in Toronto were chanting "MVP" whenever Chris Bosh was shooting free throws the other day. Yes, Chris Bosh is a great player and an all star, but no where near being a legitimate contender for MVP. I am waiting for Utah fans to start chanting "MVP" when Okur or Harpring is at the free throw line. Mac is NOT the MVP this year, and while a great player, and perhaps the MVP of the Rockets -- but the chant is slightly ridiculous.

He misses FTs when it's NOT chanted.

The fans are trying to show their appreciation to TMac, he's just missing them because he's been a bad FT shooter this year.

In my opinion it's really ghey to tell people to stop spontaneous cheering of their team, it's bad enough they all won't wear red shirts.

TMac is a professional, he has said in the past the crowd doesn't really bother him. He's just an inconsistent FT shooter this year. If he can't handle a show of adoration from the fans, then that's his problem.

    Here's my request.

Please stop with the "Please Don't Chant MVP while TMac is at the line", it sounds like the same whiny picky fans who complain about the atmosphere in the TC, when they don't attend themselves. In a nutshell, they want a rowdy atmosphere in the TC, but wants to dictate when to be loud. Give me a friggin break. TMac will make or miss his FTs regardless of the chants.

I hope the TC crowd keeps doing it in the future just to piss you guys off.

"Oh, what if he misses some because of it and we lose the series as a result?" Whatever, we deserve to lose it then because TMac can't handle adoration.

Ok, I will agree that the MVP chant is played out. As for college, what are they suppose to chant at the FTs, "Naismith College Player of the Year"?

I am not whining. I admit that i have never been to TC as I live in London right now and I watched all the Rockets game this year on internet. Sure, he misses FT when it is not chanted. The point of this thread is when there IS a "MVP" chant. Indeed, I do not remember TMAC hit the FT when the crowd chants "MVP". That is why I started this observation and recommendation thread because I think if some Red Rowdies read it, we can debate and it may help us get more points and wins.

Please do not make say things I did not. And if you are pissed off, please do not assume others are too.

In games 1 & 2 the chants were more prevalent and louder and Mac sunk all his FT's while the chants were going on. The H-town fans are so apathetic that when they chant anything, we should be glad! The opening of the game last night was a disgrace with less than half the arena full and less than 2000 people 20 minutes before tipoff. The first Qtr atmosphere felt like a pre-season game b/c it was so empty.

T-Mac has never shot 80% at the line, and has shot under 75% the last two years. He's just not an automatic shooter, it's probably a coincidence he misses when they chant MVP.

Not a coincidence. He ALWAYS misses them ...all season long. The last home game was the first time all season that he made one during an MVP chant. But I agree that he needs to man up and concentrate.

You are right. This topic is hillarious. The fact that chanting MVP actually has an affect on his shot. This isn't golf people.

Tell that to Shaq and Duncan. Also, Tmac is without a doubt one of the top 2 most important, or VALUABLE players to his team (along with Kobe). If the Rockets hadnt flown under the radar for so long and he had been healthy at the start of the season, he should have been the MVP. I say let em chant!

Maybe not but he is at least top 4 I would put money on that. And I also agree NBA fans are just not very smart. Of course that is not all NBA fans.

HAHAHHAHA thats what I'm talking about son... If I was T'mac I would love people chanting MVP and it doesnt matter if its at the free throw line... It will give me confidence and a lil boost... raise up his game to MVP type caliber level... Keep chanting MVP!

IMO, the only people that have a right to complain about WHAT is being chanted are the people that are doing the chanting. So if you're at home watching the game, or at TC sitting on your thumbs, I'm sorry, but STFU. ;)

That said, T-Mac needs to concentrate, MVP chants or not. If he can't handle the MVP chants at home, what chance does he have at making his FT's in Utah?

Then why the hell do people yell there brains out when the other team is at the line? It puts way to much pressure on him for just some random Free Throw. It creates an obsraction and that contributes to the fact he is shooting out 40% when the chants rain down.

OK. Game 6 is in Utah, so tell all the Jazz fans to be quiet when T-Mac is at the line, because he can't hit free throws when people are talking.

    Whatever.

That would be actually hillarious if some Jazz fans reading this forum decides to chant MVP when Tmac shoots free throws to distract him in their homecourt! :D

    Now that's funny.

I am in the camp that says, he needs to make them regardless of what's being chanted. I'm sure players get more "distraction" from the other players on the floor.
