I'm not saying Democrats are worse than Republicans, just that they're all the same whether you want to admit it or not.

Um, this report has nothing to do with the kind of corruption scandals that brought down the 109th congress.

    It's a populist puff piece.

All it claims is that the democratic congressman are raising money. That is what it takes to stay in power in Washington. There is no allegation of impropriety of any sort.

I suppose ou're in the disingenous "Al Gore should foreswear breathing if he's a real environmentalist, or else he is a HYPOCRITE AND GLOBAL WARMING AiN'T TRUE BLAHHHH!" crowd...so this will fall on deaf ears (and you will counter-harrumph, by saying I'm the one with deaf ears - ooooooh)

    - but I do know that accepting campaign contributions is not the reason why Abramoff, Delay, Mark Foley etc are in jail or indicted or in hiding.

And it's actually not the reason why they're no longer in office. The reason for that is their (and the PResident's) abject failure as both leaders and as governors - which is all too plain to see.

But anyway since you wnat to compare the last two congresses here are some actual facts:

I know they get in the way of a good old fashioned halfbreed HARRRUMPH but they're relevant nonetheless.

I would prefer Congress to meet fewest days as possible, hell debate really never convinces people, just let them vote and leave. There was a stat in the WSJ that the S&P over the last 25 years was up like several 100% on days Congress did not meet, but was down 1% over the days they did meet. The numbers were something staggering like that.

I tell you . .. Sports has taught me alot
SALARY CAP . . . or rather FundRaising Cap

Elections should not be won or loss by how much money you raise
I think Each Candidate should only be able to Raise/Spend X amount
or money . .and may the best person win

must send the money wisely and get the most bang for your buck
learn and demonstrate you can handle money etc

Let's say each Candidate only get 10 Million
That is it. . no free air time .. no free dinners on their behalf
10 Mil PERIOD . . . and the best person wins

How do you think that would change political culture
