why isnt everyone calling out shane? everyone knows he hustles and does his part on the defense side (im not second guessing that) but does anyone else feel like he should shoot more? it doesnt have to be 3's but he can post up. i just think he can be more envolved in the offense when the stars arent doing good. also he looks kind of scared to shoot, what are yalls thoughts?
Everyone is to blame but to get to Rafer and Shane you need to first see Head Howard Yao Mac Deke Hayes then Shane and Rafer
He does post up sometimes, but it's hard to go near the paint. Even Tmac can't do it, the Spazz got it on a lockdown. Plus I think this team's performance has a direct correlation with the 2 stars. If our stars aren't doing well, the whole team deflates. It's very discouraging to see Yao struggle under the paint, Tmac not being able to even get to the paint and resort to chugging long flat jumpers. I thought Shane was brought here more for his defensive hustle anyways.. Just my opinion.. could be wrong.
Yeah, you see Shane dive to the basket and make it, or those jump hooks that always seem to go in, and you think "where the hell was that the rest of the season?". I know he could be a consistant 3rd option if we got him more involved in the offsense other then spreading the floor and shooting 3's.
the problem with shane is he only takes shots he feels he can make, which limits his touches. He also needs shots created for him for the most part which basically means he will never be more than about 10 points a game and very very very rarely erupts for 20 or more. in 82 games Battier had games of 18 or more just 5 times. and his season high was 25. He has never been our offensive weapon and has provided about the same.
Shane's little half-hook is a reliable shot, but it's hard for him to get to the basket. He's not big enough to post up true post players, and his handles aren't good enough for him to drive without a clear path. Believe me, I've wanted him to take a bigger part of the offense, but I've seen enough to know that he wouldn't be great.
Perfectly said. Rafer and Shane are giving us B- performances. The rest of the team ranges from C to F- Evan
He's a very good scorer but has bought into this "Mr. Intangible" "perfect role player" stuff a little too much... I honestly think it's all mental. He doesn't shoot because he thinks others are supposed to. I saw all of his career at Duke and he is more than capable of getting off his own shot, but now generally only seems to shoot when someone tells him to (i.e. - setting him up in the corner). I wish he would shoot more, but I'm content in what he is doing for the team. Not ecstatic, but content. It's pretty much what is expected of him.
because he is a YES MAN and JVG's type player he will not defy the coach of go outside his role even if it is for the betterment of the team Rocket River
I think b/c Harpring is too physical for Battier. While the same is true for TMac, Tracy has shown that his length is enough to bother Harpring when he's posting up, and he's blocked him a few times. But I agree with y'all in that I would save TMac for Harpring only at crunch time as he'll lose too much energy guarding him the entire time.
Harpring is giving a CLINIC on how to seal your man for the entry pass T-Mac cannot get around the dude down low Rocket River
I don't know why Battier isn't more involved in the offense. Plays aren't run for him, except for spot-up threes, but you see him take and make the occassional mid-range J and his little hook shot. It's a bit of a mystery. I think it's partly on him, and partly on the offense being run.
He isn't about the numbers. He's about the intangibles. In the playoffs his career average intangibles are 6.8 ppg and 4.4 rpg.
He was never a big shooter during the regular season, how can we change our strategy now? If Shane is a much more capable shooter, he would have been shooting more during the regular season. Rocket Zoom
Definitely. Although I'd put Howard higher than Head purely on the fact that this is Head's first playoff series ever.. Juwan should be the calming vet off the bench.
