    Vernon 1993-94 (Year of the Heroes)
    403 3-point attempts

    Rafer 2006-07 (now)
    529 3-point attempts!!!

    WOW!! Rafer beats Vernon in most 3 pointers attempted! ;)

    Vernon = Mad Max
    Rafer = Mad

    please include in your analysis:

    rafer alston 2006/07: 192 made 3ps (36.3 %).
    vernon maxwell 1993/94: 120 made 3ps (29.8 %).

    i think your argument ends there. i don't know what you were arguing, though.

    rafer didn't do anything wrong. you're only good as your superstars make you. and this series is mostly on t-mac, and some on yao.

    yao can stop doing that bs dribbling and come out like his first shots after half-time.

    Please also include in your analysis:

    Vernon = One mad MOFO who played lock down defense. Dan Majerle never saw daylight against Vernon in playoffs.

    Vernon = TOUGH & FEARLESS....wasnt afraid to mix it up with the big boys and take it to the hole.

    Vernon = Took and MADE big shots. Single handedly raised the Rockets from dead in Game 3 vs Suns in 94 playoffs. Hit the nail in the coffin 3 pointer in Game 7 of Finals.

    Vernon kept us in games with the slashing- attack the basket offense. He had no fear at all. His heart was unquestioned!

    At the same time - leave Rafer alone - he is doing his job bringing the ball down the floor and distributing. I support Rafer and this team!

    Go Rockets!!!

    All I know is we had some atrocious performances during those years, yet managed to pull out the championships. So there's always hope. Not that we are in a desperate position now against the j*zz anyway...

    Nice post!

    Any of you guys ever read "Keepin' it Real?" It's a book that chronicles the season of Mad Max (along with Barkley, Webber, Stackhouse and Matt Maloney...yeah Matt Maloney) in 1998-1999. Lots of good stuff in that. His response to Avery Johnson when Avery told him, "May the Lord bless you," prior to the jump ball is a Maxwell classic. I'd write it here, but it's not exactly family-friendly. Lots of MF bombs... :D

    Yeah, but Vernon was gritty. And Daryl Morey's computer can't measure grit. Or dirt. Or gumption. Alston is without gump.

    i dont know if its rafer's fault, but he's hoisted up so many 3s, he's thrown up more than 100 more than one of the Rockets legendary 2 guards!

    his job is to setup his teammates. Rafer is legendary streetballer who can dribble to the hole on anyone And 1 player. where is that this series?

    look i am supporting Rafer! Quit jacking up so many 3s Rafer, drive to the hole or dish, run a pick and roll, hit a mid range jumper! come on Skip!!

    I say there's only one Rocket than can jack up lots of crazy 3s, and that's Tmac. He's the SHOOTING GUARD

    Vernon hit a few big shots and did nothing else for his entire career. He was a hotheaded idiot who jeopardized his team's success.

    Don't make me research stuff.

    McGrady is a career .342 3FG shooter, and he shot .331 this year. The last thing he should do is jack up 3s.

    bring it hater!

    OPEN YOU MOUTH AND DONT BITE

    1994 NBA Finals | Houston 90, New York 84
    For the first time in the franchise's history, the Rockets had a title. Hakeem Olajuwon came up big in with 25 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists and three blocks as the Rockets posted a 90-84 victory. Rockets guard Vernon Maxwell had his best game of the series with 21 points. Houston held a narrow lead most of the way, but the outcome was not decided until Olajuwon nailed a 6-foot hook and Maxwell canned a three-pointer with 1:48 left, giving the Rockets an 83-75 lead, putting the game -- and the champagne -- on ice

    Maxwell could switch from scoring guard to point and be better than Rafer. Especially in the playoffs.

    Damn. Maxwell could half way control the Jazz point guard and would take it to the hole, score, (Rafer can get there, but not score) or make clutch shots.

    Are you kidding me? Comparing Rafer's overall playoff game with Maxwell?
