http://www.businessweek.com/bwdaily/dnflash/oct2001/nf20011017_6460.htm I think that I would rather have Rice or Powell take questions than Bush
It is clear that their "religous" suicide bombers LOVE titty dancers....heck who doesn't, it is just extremly hypocritical conisdering their views on women. What do you expect from piece of dung like these guys though. Maybe if we opened a SUPER-Men's Club in Kabul, they would be to distracted to bother us anymore. Maybe offer 2-1 table dances or a never ending happy hour?
simply . let the jewish get out from palestine and everything will be ok . that's not my opinion or opinion of all muslims in the world . the author himself stated that when he said : It was a pity that so many people died, but that's what happens when you give aid and comfort to Israel )) that's how to do it mr.cohen . suicide bombers ! this is a new type of suicide bombers . i don't think those guys are the true guys who attacked horribly the innocent people . i mean how a muslim thinks that he would go to the paradise after the bobming and he goes to a night club to those things the are forbidden is isalm ? that's one of the stupid liesby the FBI . and if that is really true we have to conclude that these morons do not represnt islam and originally they aren't . in case of the womens . be sure taliban has nothing with islam . in our civilized countries we don't treat like taliban with the womens . they make all daily activites and nobody could stop them just like what islam asks us to do .
There are reports that some of the hijackers tried to get prostitutes but found them to be too expensive. Let's keep in mind that these guys are not Islamic, they have hijacked a peaceful religion for their backward views. Let's see... Went to a stripper....forbidden by Islam Suicide....forbidden by Islam Killed civilians...forbidden by Islam Killed Christians and Jews...forbidden by Islam...the Koran states these people are of the book...just not lead to the right path. The Koran teaches that to deal with Christians and Jews you must try to bring them to Islam, not kill them. Its pretty clear that these guys were Islamic in name only.
Speachless... . I assume, of course, that by Palastine you are describing what most of us would describe as 'Palastine', 'Israel', and 'The Occupied Territories?'. In otherwords, could you clarify your definition of 'palestine' for me?
Q8, Please tell me why the Palestinians have any more claim to that land than the Jews..... Who was there first? You can't tell me. When has there ever been a recognized country of Palestine? Serious question, want to know the answer. It seems to me that they have just about equal claim, and that Israel is more powerful (or has more powerful allies), so that's that. Also, Jews (before WWII) had large populations (not majorities, but thousands if not millions) in just about every Middle Eastern country (Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Syria, etc). For centuries they were persecuted by Muslims for no other reason than their Jewish faith. The Jews were wide-spread and did not have a means to gather together to protect themselves. After WWII, they did. The land in question is holy to both the Muslims and the Jews. The only way to resolve it, is to share it, but that doesn't seem like a realistic solution (b/c neither side trusts the other right now). I realize that is a very over-simplistic summary of what has led up to what is happening in the ME currently, but it's not misleading.
Extending this arguement, the United States has had a great deal of trouble with Iraq. But, I guess that thats what happens when you give aid and comfort to Kuwaitis. Maybe we should have just let Saddam have his way with your mothers and daughters. No trouble for us then.
Your somewhat biased eyes missed the first part: "The overwhelming sense in the Middle East seems to be: It was a pity that so many people died, but that's what happens when you give aid and comfort to Israel. ". He's stating your opinion, not fact. It is presented in this article to show how poorly we are doing on the PR front, that is, the fact that people could actually feel this way. You are all being played like a cheap guitar. bin laden did not jump on the Palestinian cause until VERY RECENTLY. He does NOTHING on behalf of the Palestinians, he just says that to find resonance with individuals such as yourself. Palestinian leadership does not want his 'support', why should you want it for them? The Jews will never leave Israel. The sooner you and yours accept that, maybe the sooner there is a resolution to this problem and the Palestinians and Israelis can live in peace and prosper.
who was the first ?? hehehe nice question . If you are going to tell me the jewish i would ask another question and it is : who was the first in america ? the indians or the white people ? so do you want to run your rules on the arabs only ? emm that's not fair baby . and one more thing Dreamer .. you have to proof that the jewish were persecuted by the muslims through centiures .. we need a proof .. ok ?? and you asked this questions : When has there ever been a recognized country of Palestine ?? there weren't a country by the means of country as toaday . I mean it wasn't like the shape of the nations in present time . but that's not gives any excuses for the zionist to kill and massacre the arab people there . they were attached to an islamic empire before the end of world war one ..
lol . stupid conclusion !! you will be the big loser not me . you won't have that oil that your goverment are absorbing it now from here . Saddam will own it . then it will be the tragedy IN US just like what happened during 1973 war Between The arabs and isreal . hardluck ottamon .. try again !!
oh brother . who said that I'm with Bin laden do you know that i hate him more than you ? , he is just one of the ****ers that hit islam's image in the west and gave a bad idea about a great relegion . and I agree with you bin laden has nothing to do with palestinians . he is just using this case to acheive his ugly aims . as much as i hate the 11th attacks . I think this is the curse of the palestinian childrens that died by an ameircan rifles and weapons . this is a fact i know it's misrable and awful but we can't change it . thati what i was going to say cohen . one more thing cohen . don't forget to take a look on the israeli heaven . http://www.a2zegypt.com/isr_heaven1.swf
hey guys you reminded me of a conversation I had with one of my friends who (like all the Americans I know) in her innocence and good will couldn't understand why so many people in the Middle East (where am from) are so angry with America.. am talking about average people here and not the crazy fanatic r****ds who hijacked the planes, and with it, hijacked our religion.. So where do we go from here? OK we destroy Bin Ladin first but then America has a lot to work with.. even once he's gone (hallaluja to that) there are still so many people who are angry and have so much potential to be radicalized unless some kind of long term solution is to be found in the Middle East.. the US and European governments should ask themselves: why did USA become a target? What is the larger political context of this criminal act? And how is it being perceived by people in the Middle East and Islamic world? There is so much frustration in the Middle East.. I think that reviewing USA foreign policy to the Middle East with an eye to address these concerns is the most effective way to prevent future be Ladens’ from emerging or even mobilizing significant number of followers. The basic necessary change is to transform the existing international economic, political, and social development policies of the World Bank, USA, and European countries from a policy that focuses on maintaining Arab dictatorship regimes and corrupt elites into a policy that emphasize civil liberties, human rights, and empowering development strategies. Addressing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the main thorn in the Middle East and in the relationship between western countries and Islamic countries. Granting the Palestinian their right for self determination and an independent states with a dignified set of arrangements, without compromising the need of Israelis and Palestinians for security is certainly possible. As for the 5,000 Iraqi children who die every month under the sanctions: Bring an end to the inhuman sanctions and bombardments of Iraqi people and the violation of its territorial integrity. I can go on and on with the many changes that need to take place in order to address the grievances of the Middle East in dealing with USA and European policies. However, a good start would be by the recognition and acknowledgment that there is a problem and that those who live in the Western Hemisphere and their governments have a lot to do with it. Dreamer: the discrimination against the jews was largely a European phenomenon upto and during WWI (Germany, Russia).. it was only after the creation of Israel that they faced the unfortunate reactions from Arabs (in solidarity with Palestinians).. but don't forget that the most shining examples of Jewish writers and philosophers flourished under Islamic rule in the Middle ages and upto the time of the Ottomans Supermac: with you 100% !! Q8 Rocket: with you bas 80 %
Maybe the Middle East would be a better place if Israel was never created and the Palestinians were not misplaced, but the simple fact is that Israel was created and Palestinians were misplaced. Can't change history. Can't get rid of Israel, most of the Jews there were born and raised there and its just as much there home as anybody elses. Has Israel done bad stuff to Palestinians? Have Palestinians done bad stuff to Israelis? Yes and yes. BOTH have killed each other and each other's children. No one's hands are clean of blood in this matter. Each attack on each other provokes another by the other side. It won't end and peace won't be had until BOTH sides stop shooting each other. What happened on Sept. 11th has NO justification. There is nothing right about it. It is not a result of us supporting Israel. We support Israel because Isreal doesn't ram jets into our buildings. We support Israel because if we didn't, they would be wiped out. Do they always use our support like they should? NO. But if we didn't support them, if they show ANY sign of weakness, every Arab country on their border would jump them. Palestinians got screwed over and conquered and lost land. Israelis have taken advantage of that and set up there own land. This has happened in just about every civilization ever created. Someone gets conquered, new nation created. It just so happens that it happened recently in Israel. Palestine and Israel HAVE TO learn to live with each other, and a Palestinian state must be made for peace to happen. Israel MUST be allowed to stand as well. If it were not of U.S. backing, Israel would have been wiped out years ago. They've been attacked from virtually all sides since they were established. Arab Muslims account for 99.7% of the entire land area of the Middle East. All they have to do is share 0.3% with the Jews and things will work out. I don't totally support what either side has done. And the solution to the problem is not black or white. There are many shades of grey in this problem. Hopefully there will be peace in my lifetime. As for us protecting Kuwait, you should be thankful for our help, even if we did want that oil. One should never look a gift horse in the mouth. America can't police the entire world, so we have to pick our fights carefully and it was in America's best interest economically and morally to protect Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. Remember...Saudi Arabia WANTED us there. These discussions get heated and everyone has a different view on things. I just want to say to everyone out there...whether your Christian, Jew, Muslim, Buddist, Hindu...or whatever you may be...perhaps your not religious....I just want to say: I wish your life will find peace and happiness and hopefully we won't have to go to the Middle East to dispatch of people like Osama too often.
Cohen ,thanks for the article. It was very interesting. It will be interesting to see if a public relations, advertising approach will change opinion in the middle east. Certainly it can sway public opinion in the US on just about any issue. My prediction is it won't work in the Middle East for the following reasons. 1) Fewer watch TV even Al Jazeera. 2) The public in the Middle East believe they understand the issues. (Much like a steady bombardment of stories by the media about the extreme importance of Monica Lewinski failed to ever move public opinion against Clinton. The public felt they didn't need the media to evaluate Clinton's adultery and it importance to their own lives.) . 3) They have many more alternative sources of info about the mattter. Local leaders, papers etc. Unfortunately, Israel will have to come to its senses: they can't win a war of attrition against the Palestininians. Electing a terrorist tough guy has made them less not more secure. Despite their military superiority they need to break out of the box and compromise a bit more. On another level it is interesting how the longer the European Jews remain in Israel the more Middle Eastern and besotted by religion they become , i.e. willing to fight eternal wars over a few old temples. Like that is normal , understandable and desirable.
SAROONA, Overall, I agree with almost all that you say. I would like to further delve into your opinions on Iraq. Are other Arab countries OK with Sadam developing weapons of mass destruction? Are they OK with the fact that Saddam only needs to allow inspectors in to end the embargo, yet he refuses? Supermac34, 100% on target. glynch, For those that DO watch TV, TV can have a strong impact because of images. You can hear a story or see a story, which is more likely to be accepted as truth? Sharon sucks. I was very disappointed when Barak had the carpet pulled-out from under his feet. They were so close to an agreement! (It sounds like the PLO would not budge on Jerusalem). Q8 Rocket, In my search for understanding and enlightenment, I have already seen all of these pictures, especially the father-son and the four month-old...we have a six month-old. I told my wife about the picture I saw of the child several weeks ago, and she couldn't even listen. One difference between you and I is that I empathize and sympathize with both sides. You group all Jews in Israel together in one big group that you apparently hate, dehumanize and just want to see 'go away'. I see two peoples, most born into this conflict, locked in a sad and presently futile struggle. Many claim that the Israel is racist, but what about those that can only see the hurt and pain on only one side, just because they share the same ethnicity or religion? We are ALL humans and brothers. You never respond to people's comments that Israel is not going away. The PLO has accepted this. They understand the necessity to, why can't you? Why can't people like you help find a workable solution instead of pursuing a path of eternal violence, death and destruction?
Ottomaton, mind if I give it a try? Q8 Rocket , The 1973 led to excellent improvements in energy conservation. For example, in the south we used to keep thermostats at 68F, now you can find many at 75F. Any threat of increasing oil prices will further increase conservation efforts, spur alternative energy sources that are decreasing in cost, and most importantly will drastically increase the number of wells in Alaska. Want to see something scary? Even though the US only has about 30 billion barrels in proven reserves.... Lets see, you make the argument that we only saved Kuwait for oil, but you had better hope that you are wrong. If you are right, we could just skeedaddle and while your country is raped and pillaged, we will be burning our wonderful Alaskan crude. Who would be the loser now, pard?
saddam got these weapons to use on iran from we all know who. oh by the way saudi arabia never really had a large jewish population well at least not in the past 13 centuries.
.On another level it is interesting how the longer the European Jews remain in Israel the more Middle Eastern and besotted by religion they become , i.e. willing to fight eternal wars over a few old temples. Like that is normal , understandable and desirable Mango what I meant is. This is not an original idea, but some progressive, I guess non Zionist, Jews believe that by tying the whole notion of Jewishness to a piece of land in the Middle East that they are losing something. That many Jews are are becoming more religious in a somewhat bad sense. It seems to me this might be happening. It may not be just because the land is in the Middle East or tied into Jewish history of thousands of years ago. It could be as a result of the continual stress and turmoil. Also politically the more secular Jews are having their fate deermined by the swing voters who are very strictly religious and often time not of the Western European tradition. While I like to be culturally sensitive I just think it is nuts for Jews or Arabs to always talk about how they can't give up the war no matter how many lives are lost because of this or that temple or Mosque, like that is so understandable.
