Other than the 2nd half of game 1, I don't know what has happened to TMac's jump shot. I loved how TMac was driving towards the basket in the first half tonight. Unfortunately, he didn't get the calls he got in game 2 during his drives and only got a few FTs. When he lost his jump shot back in March, I was thinking it was because he lost a bit of his focus and I believed when the playoffs came around, he would gain focus again and find his jump shot. However, he still seems to be struggling with his jump shot this series, especially his 3 point shooting. If TMac can't get his jumpshot back, we're in for a hard time. If Utah notices that all TMac can do to score is drive to the basket, they are going to crowd out the paint (making it harder for Yao as well). He needs his jump shot back to keep Utah's defense honest and also, it would be a big psychological advantage if he could make his jump shots at critical times. Here's to hoping TMac finds his jump shot again (but keep a steady pace at attacking the basket). Rocket Zoom
i think its clear t-mac's starting to lose his jumpshot. in 05 he could rise up and drain jumper after jumper it doesnt matter who was guarding him. if he was open, he would make the shot 100%. now you dont see t-mac attempt a pull-up 3 pointer like he used to. im sure he's lost confidence in his skills. just check out this vid of him in 05 vs dallas. it's like two different players now. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-CKfxRyoZE
Yeah, TMac seemed to have gotten good rythm for his jump shot after Yao went out injured. Ironically, he lost his rythm for his jumpshot a few games before Yao returned. Man, I hope he gets it back ... we need it for the remaining games ... Rocket Zoom
"If Utah notices that all TMac can do to score is drive to the basket, they are going to crowd out the paint" Unfortunately,it comes true.
Last year, Barkley made a pretty good point (sounds crazy huh?) about T-Mac and his FG%. Barkley said basically T-Mac will never shoot at a high % because he always shoots off-balanced shots. He can make those shots maybe better than anyone else, but he's still not consistent enough to shoot well like Kobe. T-Mac is still a pretty good spot up shooter. He rarely shoots spot up jumpers though. Every time you see him come off a screen and shoot, he's always fading away in some direction. It's basically a habit for him. He can't shoot spot-up even if he wanted to. It's a natural motion for him to fade away in some direction. I tell you what though... T-Mac can make some crazy ass shots. If there's one word to describe him, it would be freaky.
