Well, is he honestly going to be a difference maker? Probably not, especially not with JVG. Not bashing JVG here, but he's not the best guy for developing potential into talent. It's just a fact. He can work well with veterans who know the game and hustle, play D, etc. but I don't know what he'll do with Almond. I do like Morris Almond though, and he's supposed to fall to us. This, and his rotations (sometimes) are the only things I have against JVG.
Haha that's my predicament. I actually was thinking the Rockets might try to trade the pick or something. Like I said, I'm not sure JVG is the best to develop potential into talent, but he's done a pretty good job with the 24th pick in Luther Head although he is currently MIA and is always MIA against Dallas. Do you not think the Rockets could get a veteran, or at least an experienced player, for Morris Almond? I dont' know...maybe.
Almond this.... Almond that... The guy played in a WEAK conference, never won any big games. And only put up 15 against Memphis. But I guess he is local so...
i think he'll go in the 2nd round, playing against weaker competition made him look better than he really is.
does anybody remember he declared last year, and impressed at every predraft camp? he's a 1st rounder, and he'll be the best available player at 26.
not to mention that almond was THE ONLY OFFENSIVE THREAT on the team. if any team were smart, they'd double him on every possession. the fact is he has alot of tools that should transition well to the next level. we're not looking for the next tmac at the 26th pick yall. just someone who can provide some consistent scoring off the bench with an outside shot.
Almond is a tall SG. He was a ball handler on his team. and the only main offensive threat period on that Rice team. He is not that big or strong really, but could develop it. He is quick and probably has the ability to play good defense in NBA. Not stopper level but decent. He can shoot, drive and pass. thing about almond is that he is does not seem like a player that would contribute his first year, esp in our slow down, drag it out, "everyone knows what is going to happen" offense. Everyone says he is in a bad conference and all, but he dominated that conference for two years. Haven't seen him play enough to know his basketball IQ.
Span is a better player than Anthony Parker in my opinion. Saw a lot of them past few years in europe and span has better handles, better vision , better shooting and more energy.
Well i haven't realy seen him play, but Kevin Martin played in an uknown conference (or was it Division II?), and he seems to have transitioned well.
Martin was being developed by the Kings as a future core player and got playing time over Bonzi. That's not happening under JVG.
not sure if you knew...but jvg aint coming back. he has a year left on his contract, but everyone knows he's gonna resign.
here's a shot of his... <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/xxABT1q1V4I"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/xxABT1q1V4I" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Alan Daniels is definitely a better player than Almond. And he's been through the draft, so he is available as a free agent.
