if you havent noticed already, this draft is very weak in PG's. Only 3-4 are slated to go in the 1st round. Conley Law Gap In Talent Pruitt Sessions Conley and Law will both be gone in the top 20 picks. Pruitt is a 6'4 PG who is more of a combo guard that can slash and has an OK 3 pt shot. Shot a very low overall percentage though and never averaged more than 4.5 assists. Sessions is the better overall PG who does a little bit of everything, but his outside shot is suspect (18/50 in 2006). Next year will be loaded in PG's. 2008 PG's: Rose Mayo Collison Crittenton Bayless Lawson Steele Augustine
I want us to get a swingman in the draft...I think that I've read an article that JVG was interested in Thabo Sefolosha last draft but we didn't have the opportunity...Get a backup PG in the free agency or trade...Same also with the PF (Joe Smith or maybe Kenyon Martin will be released due to strong performance of the Nuggets' PF's)
Usually you take best available when drafting so low. Whether that be a SG, PG or PF. This year's Free Agent Market has more SGs and PGs who fit the Rockets system. I think that the Rockets will address this situation there. In the draft, I want the Rockets to get a PF with some shotblocking skills and a mid-range jumper. If you look at it, Chuck Haye's game is not spectacular. He plays with energy and can rebound well; but he gives up a lot in size and has no outside shot. A upgraded PF will have the greatest impact on the Rockets Offense and Defense, over another SG or PG. I think Hayes is a good PF; but think he is better off the bench With the limited info available: Herbet Hill - Providence 6'-10" 240 lbs. Draft Projection: Mid to late first round Positives: Has good size, body and athleticism for his position. Hill is a multi-dimensional scorer who can hit the midrange jumper and has nice touch around the basket. He's a very efficient scorer and rarely takes a bad shot. Has developed into a consistent rebounder and is an excellent shot blocker. Good ballhandler for his size. Plays with excellent energy. Negatives: Some scouts wonder where Hill has been all these years. His playing time and production his first three years in the league certainly didn't scream NBA player. Could use some added strength. Summary: Hill has quietly developed into one of this year's sleepers with a number of NBA scouts saying that he'd be under consideration as a mid to late first round pick.
if we could some how get nick fazeekas and put chuck hayes heart in him i think that would be one good draft pick because fazeekas is a big time offensive threat but a defensive liability but with a little bit of hayes in him he would be the perfect compliment to yao
oohh boy i hope Crittenton declares and falls to us. He'd be sweet, and he wouldn't suffer from the JVG not-playing rookies thing cause he needs another year of seasoning anyway before he's ready.
Its between Morris Almond and Rudy Fernandez. They have all the qualities we need after letting Kirk Snyder go in the offseason.
The International Prospects Lottery/Top Picks: Nicolas Batum 6-8 SG France Yi Jianlian 7-0 PF China Marco Belinelli 6-6 SG Italy The Rest in alphabetical order: Rudy Fernandez 6-6 SG Spain Marc Gasol 7-0 C Spain Petteri Koponen 6-4 PG Finland Brad Newley 6-6 SG Australia Tiago Splitter 6-11 C Brazil
If nothing crazy happens and nobody great is available I say we try to do something like offer the pick to Sacramento for Quincy Douby. He barely played at all this season. Who knows what's going to happen since Musselman is gone and somebody new will be brought on board. Sacramento doesn't have a 2nd-rounder this year, who knows they might go for it? I found it very suprising Douby played so little. Granted, he's a bit of a PG/SG tweener but he does have a handle to go along with his scoring mentality kind of in the mold of a Jason Terry. Smart player, high percentage shooter that can hit from anywhere. In a draft and upcoming FA class so weak at the point, it certainly couldn't hurt.
if splitter is there... you have 2 take the kid... he is everything we want out of the pf position...6'11, long, athletic, good from the high post, good of the dribble move towards the bucket, can board, smart, can play off yao perfect, he and hayes would be incredable for years to come as our Pf rotation... he can even take some of yao's backup minutes at Center...3 years ago they had him as a top 3 prospect...Ive seen him play a bit being from brasil and i like what he brings... look at the other brasilians that have come into the league they all had a lot of questions but most did better than expected... barbosa, valajrao, nene (well nene still needs to improve) but you see the trend... brasilian player are making good transitions, infact i think splitter has the least amount of questions than all of these guys coming into the league... he wont be a superstar but he can absolutly be a contributor...
I like Sean Singletary from Virginia. Only 6 foot, but good explosive all around PG. I think he could be an excellent change of pace back-up PG. I think he has declared but no agent. Aaron Brooks is another player I would consider--super athlete and excellent shooter and finisher, just small, but only if we picked up a 2nd rounder. Both guys could bring a much needed offensive punch off the bench in the PG spot--like an improved version of JL3 who plays more within the offense.
hehe really nice nick but lior elyahu allready rockets player from last year draft played amaizing in euroleauge (on maccabi tel aviv) young amazing athlet better then spanolis and nachbar its for sure to make strong bench also(and he'll not be expansive...)
