Why doesnt Rockets broadcast on FSN HD???

But the Warriors, Knicks, and Kings, etc all get local broadcasts in HD?
Id it because Fox paid too much for their contract? and they wouldnt make as much money if they had to broadcast in HD?

what other crappy teams have HD broadcast?

but I agree FSN is pathetic why not just buy one HD camera set and just set it up at toyota center and just leave it there.

Charlie Palillo said on his show this evening that FSN will broadcast games 5 and 7 (if necessary) in HD. That might also mean that all future playoff games will be in HD too.

the games broadcast on his HDnet channel are, but not all games broadcast on the local txa 21 or fsn are.

i gotta say watching a game in HD vs watching it in standard 3:4 size has an amazing difference. that 20% or so that gets added to the sides really does enhance the game, you can see so much more of the court. not to mention the clarity of the picture.

yea and since it is so wide, they can zoom in further so you seem really close to the court.

They don't really do that though. They shoot it just like they shoot 4:3.
The real advantage is football because there you really do see more field. I think the reason is basically those cameras are expensive and it would mean junking all their current cameras. There were more HDTVs sold than SDTVs starting in 2006. These service providers better get off their hands soon and provide content.

Consumers are putting their money on the line.

At game 1, I was right by the corner cameras. ESPN HD was right next to FSN. FSN's camera looked like it was made in 1883. ESPN's was shiny and new. FSN's broadcast quality in general is subpar, even for SD.... the fact that we dont have HD yet is a joke...

actually, FSN doesn't own the trucks that they use for games. They rent them from several different companies. HD rentals are more expensive, and FSN master control/uplink (for both Dallas and Houston) is based in Houston (strange..since MOST of their production is done in Las Colinas-Dallas). Their uplink can actually handle HD (I believe that they made the switch about a yr ago). But DirectTV doesn't have FSN HD Broadcast channels yet (FOX owns part..if not most of DirectTV). Basically, there's a whole list of reasons why its much harder for them to go HD than it is for ESPN. ESPN has one Major center of operations where most of their programming originates from, FSN has anywhere from 1-4 in Each state. Makes things a lot harder.
