Yao needs to establish himself in the post. There is no reason Okur should be blocking his shots or pushing him out of the paint like he has all series. Normally, I am one of the first people to criticize the terrible entry passing to Yao. However, he's not sealing his man off. He's letting his guy get around him or attempting to repost when the pass is on it's way. Last night players were throwing it to spots he should have been and he wasn't there. Yao is not the reason we lost but he has to become a factor in the post. He's getting beat on the glass too (his rebounding numbers don't tell the story).

I don't mind TMac's heat checks at all but his 3rd quarter (when we had our chance to really take over) was brutal. He was clearly off and that's the point where he needs to start driving to the basket looking for a foul, seeing if we can get Yao on track, or creating open 3's for Rafer and Battier (who both shot the 3 well last night). He's putting way too much pressure on himself. I like that attitude but he has to realize when his shot isn't falling he can't settle for bad jumpers.

We need to get luther going. While many are killing him right now for his poor play he's not getting the ball the same way he did duringthe regular season. A lot of is shots are bad threes when the balll is being given to him with like 3 seconds on the shot clock. He needs to find that rythem. We know he's not a pg and unfortunately we don't have a backup so bashing him for pg related mistakes is really pointless. He makes a lot of them and I wish we had another option ( CHUCKY ATKINS who wants to come here next season) but we don't. V-Span was a bust and we couldn't aquire a legit backup at the deadline.

Howard has been one of the worst players in basketball for the past month now. He can't hit an open jumper and he should never ven consider putting the ball on the floor and going to the basket. That's a block or to waiting to happen. He used to be a very consitant jump shooter (his whole career ) and I don't know what happened. The way Hayes plays (the reasons we love him) are the same reasons he gets in foul trouble so again there's nothing we can do. It happens to be another position of weakness.

All this being said last nights game gave me the most confidence I've had we will win this series. As brutal as we played we still could have easily won. We won't play that bad again and Yao will get going. We have taken Boozers best, we know what we're getting out of DWill, we have figured how to contain Okur, did a great job on Harpring for the first time last night, and AK47 is in full meltdown mode. It's one game. I think we win tommorrow and finish things off at home. I certainly didn't think we were going to sweep Utah so I'm not in panic mode at all. Some fans need to calm down.

    well said.
As for guarding Boozer, I found a tiny mistake Yao did, one of his hands always went toward the ball which can not influence Looser's fadeaway much. Yao should take Battier's way, put his hand (both hands will be best) closely right in front of Boozer's eyes.

Yeah I agree. We should actually have Battier giving defensive lessons to the whole team.

You have to be able to get close to him in order to put a hand in his face. Boozer is NOT the difference in this series, our inability to stay poised and get to the whole is going to be the killer if there is one, and of course the bench isn't helping matters.

    Here's to a better effort game 4!

Maybe if somebody besides Tracy or Yao could make a shot, the lane wouldn't be so clogged and Yao could get better position, someone could drive to the hoop, and we could get some offensive rebounds.

Tracy and Yao played a mediocre game last night - Battier did some good work. Who else did ANYTHING?

The Rox played a horrible game. Part of that was due to the pestering defense. But I'm not willing to say they just outplayed us. Our guys have to do a better job, all the way down the rotation.

    Zero bench points?

It's not like we're being stifled by the Jazz defense, we just need to make some open jumpers. 40% shooting would give us an easy 20pt win.

The problem is we played like a bunch of school girls. Another problem is that Utah's crowd exposed the hell out of our crowd. Those guys were NUTS! I wish our crowd wasn't so god damn shy and got up off their fat asses and cheered on the team. Swear to god we have the worst crowd in all of sports. We have to sweat out a victory next game and then come home and cheer on our team. If we don't bring the noise, Rocket's won't bring the funk.

Can we stop complaining about the crowd? It's getting old fast. For those that have gone to the games, we've tried our best to sound as loud as possible. It sucks that we have people that don't want to cheer in the bottom section, but that's just too bad, lets deal with.

Yesterday was a bad game. I think it's key that we get Luther Head going. I don't know why we have crazy suggestions about Kirk Snyder getting Head's minutes, but this is not the solution to our problems. We need Luther to score. We need him to make three's. If he can get 13-15 point a night, that would be a huge help. It's key that we get Head going, because he is our bench, since Howard hasn't hit many jumpers for the past month.

Yao is an entirely different player. I know the Jazz are clogging the lane, but he needs to stick his butt into Okur's crouch and back him down with power. Enough finesse, Yao needs to make a point and push his way into the paint. It's essential that he does this because the Jazz are a physical team.

Unfortunately, I was only able to watch the last 7 minutes of the game. But from what I saw, Luther Head cannot guard Matt Harpring (too tough, and sadly too quick on his cuts b/c Head doesn't get his body in the propper position in time), and Giricek can easily shoot over Head....Head just can't be playing the same time as Rafer...but then again, Head can't play PG...but dammit T-Mac was PG on every single play the last 7 minutes.

I didn't like the high PnR because every time they ran that play down the stretch, Utah would show hard and force the ball out of Mac's hands. Yao isn't the quickest player so his roll from the 3pt line to the hoop is easy to defend in recovery, especially since Mac was slowed by a hard show from Okur and AK47. So Mac's pass would always go to the wings, and then they'd try to swing it to Yao down low.

Sometimes it worked, but most of the time it failed...Okur would recover, and the Jazz were really good at moving hard and fast as a team. Perhaps they should have just iso'd T-Mac up top, so he could see a double clearly to find the open man.

Or have Yao roll into setting a Pick for a shooter...but 1) that's a play they never run, and 2) what shooter? Novak?

All I know for sure is that the game was close in the end, but Boozer kept delivering over Yao (not much Rox can do about that unless you want Yao up high on Okur, or want to play zone), and the Rockets couldn't deliver with that high PnR at all.

Okay, my comment about the crowd might be "getting old fast", but your comment there is getting gay, super-fast...

Buddy, I been to alot of games this year, and much closer to the court than you ever will be. I been to other arenas around the league and I know for a fact they were louder than we were, even with worse records...Don't take out your frustration with the Rockets poor play last night on me...

lol, closer than I will ever be. Well I am not sure where your seats are mine are above average-good seats but I have sat on the floor plenty of times and I too have been to other arenas so my question to you is did you go to games 1 or 2?
