At least Juwan has been doing some defense and rebounding. Luther has just flat out disappeared, sadly. This thread is right on cue.
This bench reminds me of when the Stros go through a hitting slump and it is not just one guy but the whole team. I can not believe that our offense will continue to shoot in the 30ish% through out this series unbelievable.
Juwan Howard for this series.... 3 RPG 0 Blocked shots I guess that would qualify as "some"... ...as in some serious garbage. PS. I was about to add his FG stats but my keyboard started laughing at me. John Connor days are not far off....
i dont know what the hell is going on with the shoot % as a team only 30%+ for 3 games. Although def will help win games but u still gotta score to win
Unlike Juan, Luther was getting trashed by Harpring on the defensive end. Apart from the fact that He quit throwing silly bounce passes to Yao, his entire game is just garbage.
Head is still a rookie, and this is the first palyoff for him in NBA,let's trust in Head, I hope he can give us a good answer in game 4.
If Luther keeps this style of play up we're going to need to look to trade him while his value is still high. His combination of below average basketball IQ, below average playmaking skills and lack of any ability at all to penetrate or pull up is definitely killing us. He's basically useless whenever he can't set his feet and shoot the standard spot up jumper. It's sad to admit that because I really like him but his inconsistencies are frustrating. It's the freakin playoffs now and he can barely even score a point out there. Completely unacceptable.
Head definately looks jittery out there. He's had several shots tipped in the first 2 games and now either rushing his shot or just making boneheaded decisions. He needs to calm himself down.
i knew luther's weaknesses would come back to bite us. utah has been great at defending the 3 and that is luther's only positive. i say we trade him for mike james.
I remember a quote from TMac in a recent regular season game, one of those games they were leading late and coasted their way to a loss. TMac was saying how he was yelling at Luther out there, "Dammit, don't freeze up now!" and you got the sense that it happened a lot. Now the intensity is really ratcheted up. Luther better shake it off quick. Not that we won't trade him anyway. Sorry, but 6'2" 185 and no court savvy = buh bye, now.
Let me first say, I love head! Seriously, I think head can contribute in this league despite his size--note I said contribute...should he be our #1 guy off the bench--likely not. But, with all this said--he is nothing more than jittery out there, as Rox mentioned. Utah is physical with him--but, he still missing wide-open shots when no one is on him. Let's pray he gets his grove back asap and at least puts the ball in the basket 3 or 4 times on Saturday--because I believe we win if we get average scoring from Juwana Man and Headcase!
luther needs to ignore the pressure and play loose. the more he worries about his contributions and the tighter he plays, the less his shot is going to fall. all these guys need to loosen up. the jazz play aggressive D; take it into them and draw some fouls. keep taking it in until they back off. throw snyder in there if you need to. im sick of watching everyone waiting at the 3 point line for a shot that they haven't made all series long. these guys have control of the series; if they choose to take what the jazz give them instead of imposing their will on the jazz, then we're going to see a lot more missed shots.
Luther's weaknesses are being exploited. He needs to work on his game, because teams are not going to let him just shoot wide open 3 pointers in the playoffs. He needs to be able to do other things. DD
