    Steve Francis on Zo:

"He was fouling me every time," Francis said. "He fouled me every single time. I was over the rim and just lost the ball. I'm definitely going to lift tomorrow so I'll get my legs stronger and put in on his head five times instead of one."

If he gets his legs any stronger, he's going to be able to sit on the rim. But I have to admit, there aren't too many Rockets in recent memory who talk like this (with the exception of Sir Charles of course). I kind of like it, but for his safety, I hope he doesn't get killed driving in on the big gorillas in the middle.

I just love his competitive fire.

I love Stevie as much as the next guy and im a huge fan. But aren't we a little biased here? Lets say Iverson said this, back when he was a rookie, about dunking on Hakeem. We would be all over his a$$, calling him young, cocky, brash, disrespecting to his elders, hasnt earned anything in this league, etc.etc. I didn't watch the game [IMG] ,fell asleep, but reading Clutch's recap, we were down by 20. Now if Stevie is going to talk the talk, he better walk the walk or its just pointless and makes him look like all those things i mentioned above. and i think Mourning had 9 blocks also..hmmm.. that just doesnt look good to me.

But i guess all this really doesn't matter since he is with us [IMG]

    interesting point, nutcracker...

and to a point i agree w/you. if it were iverson, we would say those things. but if it's francis, it's ok.

i think everyone's biased towards their own players. i mean, if iverson or spree were a rocket, we'd be there biggest supporters. just as it is natural to support your stars, it is natural to find something not to like about other teams' players. truthfully, i don't think iverson or spree are all that bad. nor is francis.

that said...the kid's on his way to superstardom. in fact, in the media's eyes, i expect him to surpass hakeem olajuwon.

What a load of crap, Nutcracker! Of course we won't allow any anti-Dream heresy! If Iverson said it about Shaq or Malone, we'd be like "PREACH ON, BROTHA!" Vince Carter has iterated the same amount of above-the-rim smack and he's still the Sports Center highlight film golden boy-

Was I the only one that saw Francis block Zo at the top of the key? Can you name anyone else on the Rox team with anywhere near as much fire in them? That's not attitude - that's a man committed to playing up to the level (or higher than) of the current crop of all-stars.

P.S. - I am also sick of the fast-break gang rape. Every time Steve tries to deliver 'the message' someone has to bear hug him to the floor. There should be a tougher flagrant foul rule because it just leads to injuries.

    Peace Out

Well about the comment about Vince Carter he can walk the walk! I'm speakin' the time last year when going against the Hawks (and Mutumbo)Vince goes up for a dunk Mutumbo goes up to block him, but fails he goes up to block only to reach the waist of Sky Carter!!! Now tell me if that guy said he had to go work out his legs after that game. I dont think so.

    Good post Pangom!
First of all Iverson wouldn't say that because he knows HE could never DUNK on Zo!
That says alot about Steve doesn't it.............He DOES walk the walk!Steve Francis is the next major superstar in this league and like you said nutcracker you didn't watch the game,so you didn't get to see Stevie's relentless attacks on the bucket,Mourning or not.I guarantee you if Francis took 38 shots a game like Allen,he'd average 40/pr,but thats not what he's about.Don't mention Stevie and Iverson's name in the same breath .I don't like it.

In response to this, I commend both players. I couldn't belive the machismo in that game last night. Five times Francis drove the base line for a poster dunk. And 4 times Zo was determined to keep that out of his house. Like it or not, Zo got the better of the dual. You have to respect that. No way was he going to let Francis turn the momentum in favor of the Rockets. If Stevie racks Zo for even one of those dunks, I see the Rockets run of 8 straight. Same goes for Francis. I love his game! He has what it takes. I mean to go after Zo time and time again is outstanding, and you can't as more of a player...even a veteran. I wanted him to drop on on Zo's head so bad I could taste it! But it didn't happen, why, because no way in hell will Zo ever let that happen to him....he would take the Tech before letting Francis posterize him. Keep it up Stevie...you'll face him again, and next time you'll get yours. That battle was a great one that I wont forget for a while.

  11. If Lil Stevie wants to Dunk over somebody (namely Zo), let me suggest the Zo technique (as seen last night on a dunk over Kenny Thomas) of grabbing the defenders arm thats attempting to block a shot and pulling it down to the waiste area.
