I heard GSW will trade S.Jax in summer. Shall we try to get him? He has very good defense and half-court basketball skills learned from Popovich and Duncan. And, most important, he is not expensive. I believe if we had him, we can beat Mavericks easily.
The only player on the Warriors team that would fit with OUR team is Matt Barnes. Jackson needs to dominate the ball in order to be effective. Same goes for Richardson, Davis, Ellis, etc.
I do not agree with you. In last two games, S.Jackson shut down Dirk in both ends. Had you watch 2002's spurs? S.Jax has much better jump shot and defense skills than Manu. He need not space to run and then score.
Jackson is one of those players that brings talent and attitude, but at the cost of potentially being a chemistry killer. He did well with the Spurs and hit some big shots in crunch time during their championship run, but no way should the Rockets pursue him. He doesn't seem like a Morey guy anyways so don't expect him here.
As a player to win games I'll take him but as a person his character will clash with JVG's. Plus I think our team needs some attitude!! this is where we miss bob the most!!
His problems come off the court not on it. He doesn't kill chemistry! Maybe a locker room nuisance when the media jumps on him. But a veteran team and good coach can quell those problems. Spurs handled it fine. Jackson works hard, is passionate, and gives it his all. You can see he wants to win. Why would JVG not like that? Reminds me of another former Warrior with problems that JVG handled. Spreewell. But y'all have short memories.
he's not a bench player, much like Bonzi had no impact on our team coming off the bench, the same would go for Stephen Jackson. We already have Battier, and we're stuck with him for a few years (not a bad thing).
Do you even know what "dominating the ball" means? You watch tonight's game and you see he's trying to penetrate with the dribble and 90% of the time he loses the ball. He's not a great ball handler but he tries to put it on the floor and create something that's not there. He's MOST effective when he's backing his man down or when he has a sliver of space for a 3. As for 2002 Spurs, if you're comparing Stephen Jackson v. 2002 to Manu v. 2002 of course he's better. You ask me which guy I rather have right now, flops aside, I still would pick Manu.
if he were one the rockets, it'd be all about how he takes so many crazy missed shots (already have tmac for that), but mostly it'll be complaints how he is taking away shots from yao.

On the other hand, you claimed he need dominate the ball in order to be effective and "Same goes for Richardson, Davis, Ellis, etc." I do not think B.Davis is the same type with him. S.Jackson did dribble very much tonight after B.Davis ejected. But, that is because he had to control the ball at that time. That does not means he need dominate the ball to be effective.
