Wow, Sydney... I heard it's one of the most beautiful places to live in the world, my dream to visit one day... Claire from "LOST" will have to do till then...
I'm just not sure there's a place that would show the games unless it's on foxtel/espn. I just took a sickie today to watch game 2 on my PC! If it's being shown and you got a group, I'm in!
Yep that bar is top place to watch Basketball I go there every Wedensday lunch to watch the ESPN games when I can. There are alot of basketball fans in australian to be honest. But you'll find that they latch onto teams based on their players. For example I'm mainly a Rockets fan because of Tracy Mcgrady. However in these years the team has grown on me to the point i can't really imagine supporting anyone else. Most people here support names stars really, its hard to support a team over here since its basketball atmosphere live is so dull and the news we get is so little. I would say without clutch fans i wouldn't be such an avid supporter of the Rox. Its hard to get information about them otherwise over here.
I just think that the NBA really started to pick up here in Australia towards the end of the first Bulls 3-Peat and the team that followed them was the Rockets, i think that most of Rockets fans are from that era and have stuck with the team since. Game 4 is listed as being on ESPN, but it's part of a double header and for some stupid reason we don't get the double headers, we only get one of the two games and it'll be the Spurs-Nuggets game We will most likely have to wait until round 2, should they make it there.
I'm not totally sure if they showed the whole game but just the end of the Pistons game, i could be wrong though. There have been countless double headers that they haven't shown, because they advertise the next game as following only to put the football or something else on..maybe with the playoffs it's a different story but as far as the foxtel tv guide shows, it's only Nuggs and Spurs. Hopefully they show both though.
Agreed, I went to watch the sydney kings twice and the atmosphere was just.. dull. Still had lots of fun though.
hey man ill get in touch with you when i go to med school in australia..that would be in 3 years tho.
I just checked the schedule and youre right. They are only showing the Spurs v Nuggets game, after that is soccer.. Oh well live stream it is.
Damn, if I ever get to Australiia, I'll have to go during the Rocket's season so I can hang out and drink with Rocket's fans in Sydney. I never guessed it was a hotbed of Rockets' fans.
Totally agree. My mates are AI, Carmelo, D Wade, Kobe, David Robinson, Hakeem fans more so than fans of teams. When I started following the NBA again after many years away I was a T-Mac fan. Then I was a Yao fan. Then T-Mac joined Yao. Perfect. Now I don't think I'll ever stop following the Rockets. Look forward to hitting up the Toyota Center some time in the next few years.
I'm in Adelaide, couple of years ago i was in Sydney to see Dave Matthews, and we watched Bogut in the NCAAs at some sports bar in circular key
Menzies hotel? Sounds good... Cheers - yeah you can change channels - the majority of viewers (i.e. customers) rule the remote. And you can turn the sound up, but not so much that the horse betting a-holes can't hear their ****... As long as a Rox game is on espn or fox or whatever cable channel they have... I only started rooting for the Rox when Yao was drafted, not because I'm asian-born myself but just because he was such an anomaly in the league, and just wished the guy well... then a guy named Mcgrady came and now he's my fave player because of his unique skill set, his style on the court, and just the ease with which he plays. It took a while, but finally it seems like this team is going places... Ofcourse, clutchfans was instrumental in my 'education' of the history of the Rox, of past glory, game footage and analysis of Rox games which I could never have gotten otherwise (even if alot of posters on here are dolts), and the now the potential for more glory
