Pretty terrible. Looks like they're going back to the voting process that gave us Mike Dunleavy and Doc Rivers as winners. Mitchell is pretty awful as a coach and is reaping the benefits of Colangelo's miracle working of the roster.

Sucks for them though, cause it's tough to fire a coach of the year. I'd still hire
Iavaroni and forcibly put him in as an assistant.

Looks like Colangelo is screwed when it comes to a future coach. He's stuck w/ Mitchell.

this is totally BS!! wasn't the guy almost get fired last season?? To me, the success of the Raptors should be credited to their GM.

Sam Michell is even worse than Doc Rivers.

    Well...

The campaign led by EDC, Luffy1 and the other gabillion haters around this board seemed to have worked!

I know these are regular season awards and all, but I still think they should wait until the playoffs is at least part-way through before voting. If the Rapotors get bounced by the Nets, it will be pretty sad...

CHe will oach of the Year selection

I am sick and tired of NBA choose someone else for Coach Of The Year instead of Jeff. Jeff deserved all the credit for the Rockets 50 some games this season without two star T-Mac and Yao Ming. But I guess that award did not mean anything because Avery got it last year and his team choked in the final. Therefore, in our mind Jeff is Coach Of The Year because this year he will lead us to the new Ming Dynasty.

Maybe they think Jeff's game is ugly.

Honestly, I don't care about this award at all. It's just another term for "most improved/overachieved team" award. Much more important is getting that ring as a coach. That's why Sam Mitchell, Avery Johnson, and Doc Rivers don't get mentioned in the same breath as Rudy T, Phil Jackson, and Pat Rileys.

Toronto's general manager did all the work in the off season and Sam Mitchell is taking most of the credits now. Sigh~

So JVG is top four? Eh, I'll take it, I guess. That means he's done a better coaching job than 83% of the league (if the voters are to be believed).

I don't necessarily have a problem with Mitchell winning. The East is pathetic, but let's be honest, no one had the Raptors doing as well as they did this season, especially after their awful start out of the gate.

What does piss me off is Van Gundy finishing 4th. The man had Yao out for 32 games with a broken leg and still managed to keep his team believing they could compete while everyone else including the posters in this board(I'll confess I was one of them) were thinking of tanking for Greg Oden.

They ended up winning 52 games in a brutal Western Conference and finished ahead of the Utah Jazz who faded badly down the stretch, yet Sloan ends up a close 2nd behind Mitchell?!

Good choice. Mitchell did a great job turning the raptors around this year. Surprising to see JVG make the top 4 though. He really shouldn't be in the top 10.

Mavs just lost their 1st playoff at home, so did raptor. They are not as strong as they appear to be. mavs have been extremely lucky to be healthy through the whole year.

JVG should be the COY, since he just beat Sloan twice at home. Rockets are the best.
