I did, and I feel the same way. However, I also realize that you can't FORCE a ticketholder into wearing a shirt. It sucks that they don't cooperate but that's just how it is.
It was really lame seeing all the lower bowl people who wouldnt put on the red shirt they were given...
I just want to know if the poster went to the game or not. Because if he did he needs to go down and help promote the red shirts. If he did not go to the game than he needs to shut the hell up because most people were there in Rockets gear and were Rowdy as hell.
off topic sorta but the ushers should make people wait to go to their seats during live play. They should wait for a whistle to stop play then allow fans to go back to their seats. It really bugs me when i continuously have to get up during live play. They do this in San Antonio and Dallas and i actually like it.
Mordo. This thread isn't about taking action. It's about making false assumptions and getting upset when people call you out. Please move on.
i thought it was pretty good last night. however, i was pretty dissapointed only the Club Section were given the tees. i guess the rockets are struggling to find a sponsor that will shell out for 17,000 tees, but props to the sponsors who actually shelled out some dough. ESPECIALLY BUDWEISER FOR SUPPORTING THE RED ROWDIES.
I'd hate that. This isn't church. If there's a line in the bathroom during the timeout, I don't want to have to stand outside for 5 minutes waiting to regain my right to chant and cheer. I sit on the aisle, so I have to let morons and flaky bandwagon fans in and out all the time, I just deal. Evan
One knock on the Toyota Center has been that it's too nice in a way. There are lots of good places to see the game from when you're not in your seat, like bars and restaurants, where you get a server too. I'm sure some of those lower-bowl ticket holders are sitting there. It probably makes more money for the Toyota Center, but it draws away some crowd intensity. I had a similar situation a couple years ago when they played the Cletics. There were like ten tickets left and I got one for $190 at the window. When I got to my seat in the lower bowl near the visitors bench, the seats were half empty around me.
The "Toyota Center Crowd" Thread Discussions about wearing red, fans not being rowdy enough, fans being too rowdy, empty seats ..... I'm going to merge all threads -- good or bad -- about the home fans at playoff games here in to this thread.
Still a work night. I went on Saturday and not last night-- Either way..it's easier to keep your kids out in the city and not worry about the next day's obligations when it's a weekend. It makes sense that some people may not have shown. Either that-- or they were out by the bar watching the game. It is their perogative, afterall, it's not like you were going to buy those seats either.
This apparently REALLY tears you up... Are all the city's fair weather fans related to you or something? I HAVE been to Rockets games. Several of them. And I HAVE witnessed the crappiness of the arena first hand. I have even sat with the Red Rowdies (during that offer made to clutchfans last year for the Warriors game), and I specifically recognized how awesome that experience was at the time, and how much more involved we managed to get the crowd... And even in my original post here, I said that I know there are some great fans (many of whome are on this board) who are doing everything they can to make the arena better. I don't need to go to every single game to "earn the right" to point out the lackluster fan support. Hell, I really don't even need to go to a single one if I genuinely can't, because I KNOW that I would if I could. It's something that I know is true from first-hand experience, second-hand experience, and 1.5-hand experience (watching the games). I'm just trying to draw more feedback from people who are going to these games about the availability of tickets, and the density of the arena... I swear, you'd think I slapped your mother...
My 18 cents: 1. Yes, if you're whining about the Toyota Center and you're watching the games at home, you're a hypocrite and more importantly talking w/o firsthand knowledge (re: ignorance). The view you get on TV isn't the same as what you get from inside. So Supermario, your point is whining about the crowd, and anyone that disagrees isn't adding to your discussion? The point of this is just to gripe and whine about something you don't even contribute to? If you think the last two games have been examples of "lackluster fan support" you really need to STFU, honest to god. 2. The Toyota Center is as full and as loud as I've ever seen it. It's far louder than it's been all season, and it's been packed. 3. The corporate suits suck, but they've actually been wearing red (even game 1 w/o the freebie shirts). Maybe not all but at least 70% of them. There are ALWAYS empty seats there because of the large clubs they get to use at the top of the lower bowl. You can bank on a hundred or so of them in there at any given time. It's one of the worst aspects of the Toyota Center's design, and nothing will change it. At the very beginning of the games, you can see that almost every seat does have a ticketholder there for it. 4. Armchair ranters suck.
emjohn, read my last post. That will address much of the stupidity from your post. But I'll add a couple things here. 1. He is not disagreeing with me. Disagreeing is fine. If you don't think there's a problem with the crowd, fine, whatever. What JayZ was doing is trying to discredit my opinion (similar to you) only since I haven't been to the SPECIFIC games that I'm talking about. (Even though what I am pointing out is NOT just based on TV. As I pointed out in my original post, this is based on feedback from friends who HAVE gone to these games.) 2 & 3. I agree. 4. No, oversensitive people instituting damage control suck.
The crowd was pretty noisy, sure. But the fact that tickets were still available AFTER the game started is disappointing to me. As is the fact that many people did not even show up for their seats, even in the upper bowl. I don't disagree that the crowd was involved, though. And it continues to amaze me how personally people take this topic...
You're right. God forbid those of us attending all the games dare discredit the view from your unbelievable 50" TV. Oh and your secondhand feedback. Because you're hanging out in your recliner trying to piss on the best two crowds the TC has probably seen in its existence, crowds that have only been shown up by Toronto's Game 1. Evan
I find it hard to believe that my friends lied to me... And forgive me if I trust a good personal friend who is also a diehard fan more than some overly defensive poster on the internet... If you had a different experience, tell me about it instead of wasting your time telling me I'm a hypocrite. (And I am not a hypocrite unless I am making the same complaints living in Houston, and/or I didn't have this job to go to every day and could make a 4-hour drive on a weeknight...)
I was at game 2 last night...sec 403 row 2 and it was pretty good. A lot of red, still could be more though . One thing that caught my attention...how was there 18,300 at the Suns game, but 18,200 last night? Seems odd to me...
Trust me, you could. You'd still get back to Dallas at 4AM at the very latest. Good enough for an hour and a half nap at the very least. Also- remind yourself- not everyone in Houston is as big of a fan as you are, it is fine for them to choose watching at home as opposed to heading to the game. I'm a season ticket holder and let someone else have the opportunity to go. Just because I didn't buy a second pair to attend the game does it make it all that bad? I'm sure many people w/ other circumstances have something to say because I think the crowds have been phenomenal. This is a response to someone who has plenty to say from his couch in Dallas.
