I know huge contingents of south asian baseball fans. Hell, there's a south asian baseball LEAGUE in Houston. Can we just avoid all racial generalizations? Nobody should be surprised to see any big ethnic group at any place (at any time) in this city.
Good observation. I noticed that too. Every South Asian at my school seems to be into ROCKETS basketball. GO ROX!
Indians overall in the US are definitely more into basketball then cricket. I love Team India, but Rockets are number 1.
Who cares about the thread title. I don't even remotely think its racist or whatever. Some people are just....
Yeah but in the traditional definition of "Chinatown", as in a Chinese neighborhood set within a metropolitan city, LA has a tiny Chinatown. When you encompass all the cities in Southern California like Monterey Park and Alhambra then there's definitely more Chinese people than anywhere else in America.
ive gotten into fights because i take insults regarding my religion or my country very personal.... but this thread makes me proud more than anything, i only get pissed wen its serious, but this is funny, and im happy that we get some recognition, i love how at rockets games theres white black azn indian mexican people, who else are we missing? thats the way it should be, its great
ummm there are no racial generalizations. im an indian guy. i know my people. a lot (not all) do not like baseball as much as bball...
Another quick comment, in the row in front of me (410, row 6) was the Indian Mario Williams. The dude looked just like Mario, but was balding just a bit. As the game went on, we referred to him as "IMW".
I'm calm... I just didn't think this was thread-worthy in this day/age, and in a city as diverse as this. Whatever... I'm proud to be an indian houstonian, and I'm glad we're all attending the games in full force and getting noticed in a positive light. What can brown do for you? What can brown do for the Rockets? Victory.
The point of the thread is vacant enough that offense was bound to taken by someone eventually.... little bombay, estimates of numbers of certain races, as if it should matter. I don't think it was intended, but again, there's little other point being made to discuss for three pages without someone saying ... "Wait a minute..." I'm more concerned that there really was no point. I am glad its a diverse crowd, culture is good. Perhaps that angle/title would have been better and even more worthy of discussion... though I think that was partially the intent anyway. Wait a minute... my point is as pointless as the point's point.
Yea I saw a lot of people from diverse ethnicities. It was almost as if there was no majority at the game, almost evenly distributed. I saw a lot of asian women who were VERY attractive as well as some Indian and black and white and hispanic....it was nice to see everyone enjoy this team. Thats the beauty of sports, it brings everyone together for one common purpose, to see the home team win. going back on tuesday.
Hey now! I'm Indian and I religiously follow all 3 main Houston sports teams along with UT football and basketball. You are right about us not caring about David Carr. He plays for the Carolina Panthers, so why would we care about him? I care about Matt Schaub.
i religiously follow all 3 Houston sports teams, too, buddy, as well as A&M's teams - but if i had to choose just one sport, it would be basketball. apparently, many of the brethren on the board (the ones that have replied to this thread) feel the same way. go brown!
I don't care what you are. If you're Indian though, you should know that every NRI still refers to Bombay as Bombay. Don't cause problems unecessarily - that's all everyone is trying to tell you.
