I agree that they are both top 10 players.

I also think Kobe gets ranked as the #1 player when he is, in fact, not.

    #1 scorer? Yes.

#1 player? No. I would probably say Tim Duncan is the #1 player.

No offense, but this is just a meaningless ranking.

How do you define which player is the best? the best player of the best team? best one-on-one player? ... The Adidas ads couldn't be more right - it takes FIVE!

How can you take that away from him being great.

When one unnamed player with the Suns who has two MVPs plays about the weakest defense anyone could ever play and never been on any NBA title teams? How is he the best player in the league

Tim Duncan is great all-around player, but he can't takeover a game like Lebron or Kobe can.

Kobe might have problem trusting his teammates, but when you can 50 to 81 pts on a given nights and your teams are YMCA level, what do you expect?

He is playing with Steve Nash tho. With the run and gun style he gets plenty of dunks to boost his average.

It is easy to be blinded by Kobe and his Jordanness...The criteria should be offense (50% of the game), defense (50% of the game), domination by passing, domination by scoring, decision making, and clutchness at end of ball games. Here is the order in which I would put the above even though there may be better players in the league than this list. It's also tough to have point guards, wing players, and post players on the same list but here goes:
    1. Duncan --post player who is pretty good at both sides of the ball, closest to Hakeem.
    2. Wade --can play both sides of the ball and his energy puts him over Tmac
    3. Tmac --he can bring what Wade can bring to the game and is a better decision make than players below him.
    4. Dirk --his offense is hard to stop. His defense and rebounding has gotten better
    5. Kobe -- I would normally put him over Dirk, but I can't get over his decision making. He has no feel for it. His decision making affects wins & losses. Magic didn't have his atleticism but he dominated with his high bb IQ.
    6. Garnett -- uber role player. He doesn't have the thirst to score although he could, but so many aspects of his game are way above par.
    7. Nash --an offense genious. He is probably the more potent players offensively on this list, but his defense makes him #7.
    8. Lebron -- great vision, but I noticed he doesn't have Wade's or Tmac's decision making.
    9. Yao --If he weren't turnover prone, he would be much higher on this list.
    10. Iverson --he makes impressive shots, but takes too many.

    In what way?
If you mean Basketball I again ask..
    In what way?
A jumpshooter/ playmaker is very different from a 90inch Center, also Tracy Mc Grady is years ahead of Yao in NBA experience.

I would say that Tracy is a better all-around player than Kobe, but he's not the best. I'm not sure who the best would be...

i think if tracy gets injured again next yr and yao can carry this team to a pretty good record, then that's when we know he has arrived. he still can't control a game very well. but he's still young. he can learn.

tracy at 22 took his team to the playoff by himself. so that's why i think.

but efficiency wise in terms of scoring, yao is much much better obviously. :D

ppl hesitate to say tracy's the best b/c he hasn't won. and i agree w/ that.

so if tracy wins a ring, i would say he's the best. his game is as complete as anybody right now. kobe can score, but can't pass or D like tmac. wade can score and playmake, but can't D like tmac. lebron is not as clutch or D like mac.

but i still give kobe and wade the edge b/c they won, regardless of how they won.

That pick is SOOO three years ago. TD wouldn't be crap the last couple of years if it wasn't for star treatment by the refs. Two years from now, Duncan will be done, like Hakeem playing in Toronto done. He's good, but he's on the decline.

Kobe is still the most explosive scorer...Yao is the most Valueable player in the league. he changes the game in so manyways it's mind boggling. tracy is the best Allround Player going around. thats the best 3 players right now in the game.
