Thank God that I finally have Boomerang now. The new cartoons on the Cartoon network suck.

Chris Wylde's show sucks. I could get drunk and stoned and do what he does. What ever happened to the Kids in the Hall? Too homo? I never cared that they were fags, they were funny as hell. Too gay and too wierd for the mainstream, I guess.

    South Park forever.

BTW ROXRAN, I love your sig. I will be thinking about that for weeks. :D

Kids in the hall was originally an HBO series so I don't think had anything to do with being "weird." It only lasted 2 or 3 seasons.

Comedy Central still shows the reruns in the afternoons about 1PM or something like that.

I know one was gay but I don't think all of them were.

I think all but one was gay. That's what I'd heard... They were pretty wierd.

I don't think it was a gay issue considering the two late night shows Comedy Central is playing. Dave Attell from the Insomniac show strikes me as quite gay, and Chris Wydle doesn't exactly seem all that straight to me. :) Anyway, not that I really care, I just thought I'd point that out.

As far as Adult Swim goes on Cartoon Network, it is worth watching at least once (the first hour), since the shows are quite different from what you'd expect on that channel. The first cartoon's main characters were a soft drink, a floating fry guy, and some meatball looking thing, and guest starred two pixelated 2D creatures from the moon. It didn't exactly scream quality to me, but I did laugh a few times at how messed up the cartoon was. If you are an anime fan, then Cowboy Bebop at 11 may be geared toward your tastes.

Manny, what is Boomerang? While I agree they aren't exactly great cartoons, it was an interesting diversion from normal tv.

I have to second the Adult Swim motion. I just recently discovered this, and it has become a staple in my Sunday (Thursday, if I miss Sunday) night viewing. SeaLab 2021, Space Ghost: Coast to Coast, and the Brak show is some good watchin'. Sealab 2021 is ingenius...Space Ghost must be written by comedic masterminds at the base of some mountain, and the Brak show can only be a one man show of such hilarous titanic proportions that I could not fathom the utter laughter it would generate if divied out in pure form, rather than the watered down, song driven "children's" format in which it appears.

Edit: Regarding Kids in the Hall, I don't think it was a matter of them getting cancelled. The show was a popular one, and ran for about 5 seasons. In the end, I think the members got tired of doing the show, and wanted to try other things. Dave Foley was on the show Newsradio (which was quite good) for a while, Mark McKinney is currently on SNL, I believe. Bruce Thompson has various other projects, including some directing. Kevin McDonald has been in a few movies. Scott Thompson, the "gay" one, I am not all that familiar with.

Raven, thanks for giving a little bit more info on the shows. I watched them tonight for the first time and I didn't catch some of the names. The Sealab 2021 episode was my favorite tonight, I thought it was pretty amusing plot having a kid fake a sickness to get a "last wish" multiple times. I remember being 8 and wishing I could have some terminal illness so I could meet Ralph Sampson and Akeem Olajuwon. I know it's a tasteless show, but it's nice to be able to laugh at politically incorrect things once in a while.

I had actually heard that Scott Thompson was the only straight one. He's the most "flaming" *** on the group, but he's supposed to be the only straight... I know it sounds ridiculous. He was also supposed to be the brains behind it...

I'll have to check out this "Adult Swim" everone talks about. It's a cartoon? I hope it's not a new exercise cartoon... Don't wanna be fooled by one of those again.

    :)

It is a set of various cartoons. Each has its own charm. The ones that I have viewed are the 3 I mentioned above. The first, Sealab 2021, appears to be derived from an old, cheaply made cartoon called Sealab 2020, based on some underwater scientific research laboratory and the adventures the inhabitants enjoyed. Well, various scenes from that show are spliced together with a little editing, given completely new lines that are hilarious and a show is created. The crux of the humor is based around the fact that the characters so rarely discuss anything relevant or even intelligent (for instance, placing your brain in a tiger robot) all the while with straight, serious faces. Sometimes this goes on during some other crisis, which they rarely acknowledge. It definitely caters to a specific crowd, but to those who like that sort of thing, it is funny stuff.

The Brak Show is a spinoff of the old version of Space Ghost that involved this one character who wears this huge tiger mask. He has a high, drawling voice that he often utilizes to sing non-sensical songs regarding things as arbitrary as his toothbrush or "magic" toenail. In the show, it is just his silly adventures doing various activities. It is highly enjoyable as well.

Space Ghost: Coast to Coast is based on an old superhero, Space Ghost, and adapted in a talk show format. He has a sidekick, Zorak, who happens to be a huge, smarmy preying mantis who gets zapped with Space Ghost's energy blast rays once or twice a show. They often have guests on the show, but the interviews are so strange and random that you have to wonder if they don't conduct the interview first, asking various confusing questions, and then construct some kind of stupid show plot around that interview. The arguments between Space Ghost, Zorak, and Moltar (his technical asst.) are often so juvenile and outrageous as to invoke bursts of schoolboy giggling from me (which I now reluctantly admit...). It is a good hour that I fully enjoy, and you should too....that is assuming you have a bit of a quirky, twisted sense of humor. :D

Take it all with a grain of salt, but I highly suggest giving it at least one look to decide for yourself.

Bah, you cranky old timer... :D

Anyhow, Adult Swim is great. Sealab is funny as hell, as is that show about the superhero team made up of fast food.

    no doubt, Cartoon Network rocks.

I've watched adult swim since it came out and it is funny. My two fav shows from there would have to be sealab 2021 and the birdman lawyer show.

I've been waiting forever for space ghost to return.

kids in the hall used to be one of my fav shows. Their last season really sucked though.
