Well, it has been over a week since we last heard from pops. It looks like he wasn't joking. I am starting this thread as a petition for pops to come back. I know that this may not be popular with some of you, but I really enjoy reading his threads and posts. You might accuse of me kissing his arse, but I want to know inside information. Posters like pops are the reason why I go to this site so much. I've learned more about the Rockets here than I could possibly learn anywhere else. Oeilpere, I know that I haven't been here long, but your opinion means alot to me. Don't let it get to you if you feel people don't want to believe your stuff. I have learned to develop a thick skin and to laugh at myself to survive here because I know that I have ruffled some feathers here. However, it doesn't matter to me if people agree with me or not, I just want them to know that when they read a post of mine in the Rockets forum (doesn't apply to the Hangout, guys), that I'm going to try to defend my position as well as possible. As long as they respect that, then it doesn't matter if they have a different opinion. That's the great thing about differing opinions. It gives us something to talk about. Please, pops, don't let a couple of differing opinions stop you from posting, especially to those who live and breathe "oeilpere's posts". If you would like to see pops post again, please respond to this thread. Feel free to share your thoughts about his posts. Maybe pops is still lurking around and he will see this thread and decide to come back. I miss you, oeilpere. Come back soon, man. Peace
Wow, I'm glad to see others miss Popeye/oeilpere as well. I just sent him an email last night asking him to come back. He is definitely one of the main reasons I've read the BBS past year or so. Clutchcity has undergone a lot of transformations since 1996, and without Oeilpere the quality of the BBS could take a hit. In 96-97 it was pretty much Clutch all the way, but over the past couple of years it has been the BBS that has allowed this site to be consider exceptional in my eyes. (Note: this is no way a knock to Clutch, I think we all knew that real life would not allow you to continue to write those 10 page game summaries, Super Mario's World, and comments on the front page about just about anything pertaining to the Rockets. I also really like the Historical database, but that doesn't keep me visiting the site 5 times a day. The statistics are wonderful, and usually updated way before all the major stat sites. Now that I made it clear I'm not knocking anyone by this I'll continue.) Oeilpere is not the only poster with good inside information, but he was/is extremely accurate, and I fell he has great insight on the game of basketball, unlike myself. The BBS will go on without him, but I think many of us would be much happier to see him come back. I hope you realize your importance to the BBS Oeilpere, and I hope to see you back here soon! B
I'll fourth that, or whatever. If I see an OP thread when I log on, I always check it first no matter the topic. It's always educational...
Yeah, I didn't even know he left the BBS. Things have been slow this week, so I haven't been checking it lately. But whenever I do, I usually scroll past most people's posts and go directly to whatever bit of info Oeilpere has to say about anything. If you've decided to stop posting, pops, please don't! You're the main reason why many of us check on the Rockets through this website and not through ESPN's "wannabe" coverage.
I too miss Popeye. I am hoping that there is simply nothing to report and that is why he has been gone. He is one of three reasons why I post here. I think everybody who has been reading on this site for at least two months knows how valuable Pops is. Doc is okay, but so rare. Clutch is nice too, but Popeye is the best. No riddles, just straight inside dope, on a regular basis. Pop, if you are really boycotting the sight just because of a few jerks, please reconsider. There are jerks everywhere, but here, to most people, you are a god. Whatsamatter, you don't wanna be a god? If you're reading this, please come back. YSk

Note: Clutch, I only brought this thread up, oeilpere's last one, because several people didn't know about him getting upset.
He is probably waiting to see if he was right. Maybe we'll hear from pops after the 16th. It doesn't matter to me whether he was right or wrong --- I greatly enjoyed reading oeilpere's posts. They were probably the most informative and interesting on the BBS. Right or wrong I hope oeilpere does come back.
OP has some great inside info and I too scroll straight to his latest tidbit when I come to cc.net. I am really not sure what happened, but their are enough of us who are true Rockets fans and whatever the cause, the loss of OP hurts the site and those of us who are members. Come back!!!!!!!!
Oei shared info, but so what? This is a community and public forum. Bring the info, and we'll talk some Pops and be friends hopefully.... but leave the ego and tolerate that some people aren't here for just logical evaluation of the Rockets and their roster movements. ------------------- I think, therefore I laugh.
Bah, 'pere is probably busy or something. He usually goes stretches without posting. Every once in a while he'll come around and drop info, or just shoot the breeze, like he did a few weeks ago in the Hangout, but all in all he's just like the rest of us. Places to go, people to see, jobs that have to be done. I say relax, he'll pop up again sometime soon!
