And so do you. Don't think that because you carry a gun that you are some sort of enlightened individual. This is not a clear cut issue on either side, and when you act so sure of yourself I get the sense that you have your own set of insecurities that reinforce your passionate advocacy of gun ownership.

If it makes you feel good to carry your gun, go ahead, I just thought I let you in a little secret .... since there are crazy people out there, some with concealed weapons like you, the police are very hesitant to jump in and stop a criminal until they can call in many squad cars and many officers to back them up. The next time your wife or children run across a criminal and the police stood and watched, you know why.
Now take that to your bed.

Yugoslavia's weapons production plants and storage depots were in Zastava which was in Serbia. The Bosniaks and the Croats were able to form armies with small arms that from Yugoslavia which did lack heavy weapons as you say.

Yugoslavia enacted strict gun control laws in 1965, and individual citizens were not allowed to own any firearms at all. There was a Bosnian Army with a limited small arms but when the Serbian military overtook Srebrenica, they were not around. The residents of Srebrenica were not allowed to have guns in Yugoslavia and when the Serbs overtook Srebrenica, they rounded up all the Bosniak male citizens and massacred them. Total killed is supposedly in the range of 8,000. It is argued that this was possible because the Serbs didn't have to worry about being shot at by the Bosniak residents of Srebrenica

Your argument is that the police won't intervene because of concealed weapons laws? I know 2 or 3 police officers. I will ask them the next time I seem them. I have a feeling that they will not say that concealed cary permits make them scared to stop criminals.

My argument is that there are too many guns out there, including concealed weapons (heck, a gun does not have to conform to legal definition to kill). That is one of the major reasons which make it hard for law enforcement officers to do their job. Don't tell me you have not heard that from many police associations around the country.

I have yet to see anybody argue in favor of illegal weapons or unlicensed carying of concealed weapons by criminals.

The officers I know do draw a distinction between legal and illegal weapons.

    Enlightened? No.

Insecure? Absolutely. I am insecure that a swat team will be hanging out with me or my family if they are attacked by a violent criminal.
I am insecure that I can rely on a fast response from 911.

Wow...you really got me there. I am going to turn in my Glocks now. Especially since officers waiting on backup is because of CHL holders.

    HAHAHAHAH!!! Thanks for the laugh.

If they have a drink, have a napkin ready. They might spit up their drink in laughter like I did.

When a police comes up against you or a criminal, how does he know the differences? He is not gonna be able to see the license with his face down in the gutter after he got blasted to smithereen.

I don't want people to ban guns and I don't want people to have guns.

CHL holders already know what to do when the authorities show up.

BTW, congratulations to the citizens of Nebraska. On April 5th the governor signed a CCW bill into law, making NE the 48th state to offer CCW.

    One tough beauty queen
Venus Ramey, 82, shoots tire, stops intruders
    BY KIMBALL PERRY | KPERRY@ENQUIRER.COM

Venus Ramey has earned lots of fame in her 82 years.

She was Miss America 1944 and later a candidate for Cincinnati City Council and worked to save Over-the-Rhine's historic buildings. She performed on Broadway and in movies.

Now, though, she's in the news for another reason.

After confronting a man she said was stealing from her Kentucky farm, Ramey pulled out a gun and shot out a tire on his truck so he couldn't leave, allowing police to arrest him and two others.

"He was probably wetting his pants," Ramey said Thursday from her home in Waynesburg, about 140 miles south of Cincinnati.

Ramey was on her Lincoln County farm last week - "Friday the 13th, apropos date, isn't it?" she noted Thursday - feeding a horse when she saw her dog run to a nearby building where she stores old steel-shaping machines, lathes and other equipment.

"This stuff is over 100 years old," she said.

For some time, thieves had been breaking into the building to steal the machines to sell for scrap. She hadn't been able to catch anyone in the act until last week.

She drove over to the building and blocked the truck sitting there.

When she asked a man what he was doing, he replied "scrapping," and said he would leave.

"I said, 'Oh, no you won't,' and I shot their tires so they couldn't leave," Ramey said.

She had to balance on her walking stick as she pulled out a snub-nosed .38-caliber handgun.

"I didn't even think twice. I just went and did it. If they'd even dared come close to me, they'd be 6 feet under by now."

Ramey then tried to flag down people driving by. When one stopped, she asked them to call 911. Eventually, three people were arrested - one at the scene and two others walking on a nearby road.

"They've been stealing from me for years. Those good-for-nothing slobs," she said.

Ramey, who lived in Cincinnati on and off for about 30 years, admitted that she is known for taking chances for what she believes in.

After moving to Cincinnati from Kentucky when she was 14, she went to Withrow High before returning to Kentucky.

She wanted to be in show business, so she moved back to Cincinnati and took different jobs before working as a showgirl at the Beverly Hills Supper Club. That led to other work that got her discovered.

Eventually, she found her way to Washington, D.C., where she won a beauty contest and, in 1944, was crowned Miss America, representing the District of Columbia.

Don't ask her if she was Miss America.

"I still am. You never live it down," she said before laughing. "There's only one in 1944 - and I'm it."

She returned to Cincinnati in the early 1970s and was instrumental in helping rejuvenate Over-the-Rhine, an activity that encouraged her to make what proved to be an unsuccessful bid for City Council in 1979.

"I remember her as being an interesting character," said Guy Guckenberger, who was on council during that time. "She was something else."

Ramey left Cincinnati in 1990 to return to the quiet farm life she loves.

Now, she just wants to be left alone - especially by criminals.

"I'm trying to live a quiet, peaceful life and stay out of trouble, and all it is, is one thing after another."

I am glad you find it funny. It's your family who are affected also.
Since you are a little slow, let me ask you this: V Tech: 1 gunman, how many officers were there? if there were no guns, don't you think a couple of officers could have done the job? So that the other dozens are available to protect your family and mine somehwhere else?

I guess the shoe might fit a little to well on some of us, and here I was saying for people to be aware of their surroundings and learn some sort of self defence. I guess I wasn't clear enough.

If you don't want to own a gun, fine, but don't condemn me for wanting to protect me and my own.

I do find it funny. You seem to think that I am going to wait for police to protect my family? That is definitely laughable.

Isn't it terrifying to you that a slow guys like me possesses a CHL and carries regularly, and I can be any person on the street?
