http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ap-timberwolves-mchale&prov=ap&type=lgns All I have to say is that if this is true, I think Garnett is an idiot. At a minimum, he should demand McHale be fired. He's well aware of all the screw-ups, and yet he's willing to waste another season. This is pretty much the only time I think a whiny superstar is righteous in wanting out. He's given them the time and effort and they blew it.
If he wants out, he's a crybaby. If he wants to stay, he's an idiot. You have to respect the fact that he wants to stay with his team and help them win. While I do agree that KG could be a little more vocal about the state of his team, I wouldn't call him an idiot.
Uh, no. I never said that, had you bothered to, you know, read my post. I specifically said this is the only situation where I feel a player to be righteous in demanding a trade. Heck, I still think it was somewhat unfair of tmac to "want out" of Orlando - not that I'm complaining....
short of landing a great player next year, if he doesn't go to the East, he'll never make it deep in the playoffs.
Chill out, I was talking about the NBA and their Superstars in general. You're not the only one that has criticized KG for not speaking up, but it's just a case of you're damned if you don't your're damned if you do. But I still wouldn't go as far as the call him an idiot.
Let the Wolves firesale begin. You can bet there will be some serious trades/roster moves by this team. And a certain ex-Rocket will certainly be one of the likely names to be moved.
AND he will get paid extra if he's traded. Smart personal move by MJ, he will still get his money and will still end up with the Rockets.
Glen Taylor must have learned from the feet of James Dolan. What a dumb decision to bring both McHale and Wittman back. McHale's last few years have been complete failures and he should have been fired last season. Then Casey goes 20-20 and they fire him, only to have Wittman go 12-30 to finish the season; then they promise to bring back Wittman. What a joke of a franchise. T-Wolves fans already know they have both a pathetic coach and GM for next season. Time to renew the season tickets. I have mixed feelings about KG. If he doesn't ask for a trade, his commitment is to mediocrity, not the T-Wolves. While driving back from DFW, I heard a guy on the radio say that and agree with it. With the announcement today, that is the nail in the coffin. If KG is satisfied to play without hope for another season, it's on him.
exactly. at this point, it's on him. if he's ok with losing and isn't going to demand better for himself then oh well, i guess the plan hatched by t'wolves management to completely waste kevin garnett's prime is complete. in a couple of years it'll be too late and there won't be any use in trading him. a shame.
More likely to the Cavs in 08-09. He'll have an opt out next summer. If things go south once again, he'll be smart to team up with Lebron in the East. It would be pretty much his last chance in his prime.
He's realized the league is all business by now, but he wants to prove his loyalty? How about making less than 9 million to prove your loyalty? This guy has some wierd standards that are keeping him from being in a good situation. Like others have said, it's no one else's fault but his.
Like I posted in the other thread about how this pathetic team can't ever get anywhere, they could have a reversal of fortunes if they: -Didn't trade picks with Portland last summer. They could have had either Brandon Roy or Rudy Gay. Sure, they're not impact players now, but at least they have a future with one of the two. Drafting Foye is like trying to find another Marbury. They had Hudson, Mike James, Jaric and others at the point already, so why do they need an undersized SG masquerading as a point? -Their stupid sign and trade for Jaric. They didn't want to pay Sam Cassell and didn't want to face losing him for nothing, but Marko Jaric??? MARKO JARIC?? If he couldn't run the point in LA, what makes McHale thinks he can do it in Minnesota? -Signing Mike James. He might have been the "Best Player in Last Summer's FA Market Who You Could Sign for the MLE" but why the redundancy? They have the same exact player in Troy Hudson. This money would have better spent elsewhere. "Like who?" Oh I don't know...Bonzi Wells? This is GM ineptitude at its finest. It's no where near as bad at the trainwrecks that were passing through in Atlanta, Boston, and Philly, but it's up there.
It's not his fault he's not good enough to be the best player on a championship team. Just like Iverson. He would need to go to a team where he wasn't the best player, but who wants to pay that much for someone who isn't their best player?
