What happened to Francis's ear? I thought someone would've brought this up before.

heh, OBVIOUSLY Francis has just gotten his ear pierced, and he can't take the earring out or it'll close up. Therefore, he tapes it up. Alot of HS kids (im not sure about pros) do this, so thats how i know.

If he did get it pierced, I hope once he can take it out, he does so. He gets so banged up every game since he throws his body into getting boards and loose balls, that he could have an ugly accident with it. I'm glad he has the sense to tape it up, and not worry about his image or looks on the court.

Speaking of Francis getting banged up for loose ball and rebounds, does anyone else think we should have a utility player to rebound and fight for loose balls? I'd just hate to see Steve miss some games because he collided with some 7 footer fighting for a rebound or loose ball. I think it shows he had great character and fight, I also want him to play a healthy 75+ games a season. Maybe I'm just asking for too much. :)

NBA players aren't allowed to wear any jewelry during games...

Oh, and the "utility player" to rebound and dive for loose balls? It's called a power forward :p

I remember seeing Kobe wearing a big hunk of white tape on one of his ears while he was playing last year... that was definitely to cover up the earring.

That would mean that we would ask Steve to hold back while he plays. That's a no no. As scary as it is to see Steve toss himself around the court, that is how he plays. Ask him to hold back there and it might translate into him generally relaxing more on the court. Not a good idea.

One day Francis will get a little bit older and wiser and learn to apply his energy in the right areas.

My wife often cringes when he plays. He plays so hard. It's fun to watch.

    krosfyah,

I agree with what you say, but I get the same feelings as your wife when I watch him play. I cheer for his great moves and hustle, then I cringe everytime he hits the ground. He is the key to our team and it he were to ever suffer a career or season ending injury going for a loose ball, I think well I don't even want to think about it. He has made watching the Rockets extremely fun, and I'd really be depressed if we lost him somehow. I just wish somehow his hustle would carry over to the rest of the team, so he isn't the only one fighting for boards and loose balls (Cato?). Did anyone else see Steve nail the guy on the Detroit bench when he tried to save a ball from being out of bounds? Even though he missed the intended player (he ran away, off the court as fast as he could :D ), it showed me that he plays as hard or harder than anyone else currently in the league. And this is just preseason! :)
