I see no problem with the making it rain thing. He wasn't a strip club with a posse of thugs who were ready to start blasting peopel after a shifty promoter tries to run off with his money that he wasn't even actually giving away. He just dropped some cash on people at a club and they didn't even riot. He was even nice enough to not gas the crowd like the Joker did. Now, the Lambo speeding video is a problem and I expect it'll make it's way to the national media and the NFL offices soon enough. It's kind of funny when the girl says she hopes the video won't end up on Youtube. It did, but was taken down.
Wow! Did you guys see that 'racing' video he made? Isn't there something in his contract that would prohibit him from engaging in 'dangerous activities' such as skiing, riding a motorcycle, or drag racing? Someone needs to tell the kid to slow down before he regrets it one of those days...
seriously though, if i had a lambo, i would push it as well, what is the point of owning one of those puppies without going to the limit
Not on public streets, he can't. He needs to take it to the track if he wants to push the car to its limits and have a little fun without endangering anyone else's life. What the guy did in that video is reckless and showed total disregard for public safety...not to mention the life of another human being riding next to him screaming for him to stop. With that being said, hopefully his aggressive demeanor will carry on the field
Funny when KLOL did it every year at their Christmas party people didn't think it was a bad thing. When they have been having balloon drops with money in the balloons for decades, it isn't a bad thing. But now that the rappers have come up with a catchy name for it, NOW it is a bad thing. Typical.
I've never been a fan of stupid gimmicks that have the potential to lead to people getting trampled. I had no idea rappers came up with the name or were even associated with making it rain more than any other celebrity group.
No. I don't think it became a "bad thing" until the Pac Man Jones incident. That was the first time I had even heard of it.
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4732761.html Williams apologizes for speeding video Texans player denies he was racing in his new Lamborghini By JEROME SOLOMON Copyright 2007 Houston Chronicle Texans defensive end Mario Williams says he was not racing in a video posted on several Internet Web sites that shows him speeding on a North Carolina highway, but he admits it was a stupid mistake. The video was shot last week while Williams was in Raleigh, N.C., for North Carolina State's spring football game Saturday. Williams, who was drafted No. 1 out of North Carolina State in 2006 by the Texans, is shown driving a Lamborghini LP640, which he recently purchased. According to the car manufacturer's Web site, the vehicle has a top speed of about 211 mph and a listed sales price of between $288,000 and $319,100. Williams says he was not racing or driving much faster than the posted speed limit on Interstate 40. In the video, another driver, who also taped the incident, asked Williams if he raced the Lamborghini, and Williams stated clearly that he does not. "It was a stupid thing to do, and I apologize to the fans, the organization and my teammates for not being smart," Williams told the Chronicle on Thursday night. "I shouldn't have put myself in that situation, and I have definitely learned my lesson." The 10-minute video, which was shot at night, features Williams weaving through traffic at what appears to be very high speeds. In the last section of the tape, his female passenger — who operated the video camera — screams for him to slow down as the engine revs loudly. Williams said the noise is exaggerated because the two-seat sports car has a rear-mounted engine. ''Mario, please stop! Oh my god, please stop!" she yells. ''I'm scared, I'm really scared." Near the end of the dimly lit video, which is spliced together with a rear-view shot from a trailing car driven by the man who initially asked Williams about racing, Williams is heard laughing in the background as the woman sobs, ''I got the feeling I'm gonna die." The woman could be heard laughing at times in the video as well, and Williams said she was never in tears. The other driver claimed he was going 130 mph and asked Williams his speed. Said Williams, "Not that fast." No comment from Texans Texans spokesman Tony Wyllie said the team is aware of the video but would not have any comment. A league official said Thursday night it is unlikely Williams' action will trigger an official response from the NFL, which announced a revised personal conduct policy for players last week. The official said the fact Williams was not arrested or charged with an offense will not factor in that decision. The league's new policy states ''conduct that undermines or puts at risk the integrity and reputation of the NFL will be subject to discipline, even if not criminal in nature." A second video of Williams throwing money — reportedly $800 — onto a dance floor at a nightclub has been around for some time. That tape was shot more than a year ago, just before the Texans made Williams the top overall pick in the 2006 NFL draft. Under a cloud Commonly referred to as ''making it rain," the act gained national notice recently when Tennessee Titans cornerback Pacman Jones did it at a strip club in Las Vegas during NBA All-Star Weekend. Witnesses say Jones started a fight with a dancer on stage that eventually resulted in a triple shooting later outside the club. No charges have been filed against Jones in Nevada, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell suspended him for the 2007 season because of repeated incidents — 10 in his two seasons in the league — that have led to his being questioned or arrested by law enforcement. Williams, who turned 22 in January, has one incident involving high-speed driving on his record. In 2004, he was cited for driving 95 mph in a 70-mph zone. He paid a $100 fine on a lesser speeding charge of 80 mph in a 70-mph zone. Texas Department of Public Safety records indicate Williams surrendered his North Carolina driver's license in July and, as of Thursday, there were no moving violations on his Texas driving record.
Come on. They make it sound like she was screaming for her life. Anyone who actually watches the video can tell that she's just trying to be funny. I think the Texans should put a hefty fine on him. Not for driving fast, but for being in a car with such an annoying woman.
Thank you. Geez, I know PacMan gave "making it rain" a bad name because he threw his money to a bunch of strippers and fought to get it back, but that is quite different from throwing your money to a bunch of folks partying in a club. This happens damn near every weekend and has been going on way before some rappers made a song about it (i.e. New Years). I can't recall the last time that led to a fight. Stupid...yes...but rich folks do stupid things with their money all the time. Some of y'all should get out more.
