"Can you introduce some nice Chinese guys to me?" 25-year-old Russian Nadya asked her Chinese boss Zhao Hong, chairwoman of the local Chinese Association in Russia's fifth largest city Krasnoyarsk, who often receives such requests. Among the more than one hundred Chinese families Zhao knows in the city, there are at least five Russian women married to men who work as businessmen, planters, or teachers at a national university. Chinese migrant to Russia Ge Youjin and his Russian wife Tatiana had their third child recently. Tatiana said her husband is responsible. "He cherishes our love and doesn't drink or spend a lot," she said. Ge too admires his wife. "She is hardworking and considerate like other Russian women, and she takes care of the family well." Tatiana has a decent job, and cooks Northeast Chinese cuisine, which makes her husband feel at home. Tatiana now favors rice as a staple food, instead of Russian black bread. Guo Jinchang, who has worked in a local farm for a dozen years, noticed some of his Chinese friends married Russian wives. "Chinese are comparatively conservative, which can add to their characteristic charms," he said. Because of World War II, the population of men in Russia has been smaller than that of women, with 47 percent male and 53 percent female, according to figures from the Russian Federation Committee of Statistics.
I heard that Russian men's life expectancy is 10 years less than Russian women. The cause was alcoholism and bad health care system. It is no wonder Russian women don't think their men as marriage material. Anyway, I think the article you cited applies to Russian women who are living in the Far East. I don't think the women in the European side think the same.
There's alot to be uncomfortable about in this article, but I actually think this utterly depressing statistic takes the cake. I thought Stalin himself was responsible for twice as many deaths as the War, but I guess his purges et al included enough women and chidren to not allow for the gender gap.
China needs alot of woman due to the preference to boys and gender detection. Send Russsian women to China I say! In trade China will export lots of manufactured goods. Oh and the babies will be beautiful LOL.
There are over 100k chinse small businessmen in Russia right now, I do not think there are many small business people from India or Pakistan in Russia.
I wanna a Russian sexy as my secondary wife, only if my primary wife ever agree. Of course, to do that I have to move to Utah and make noise on Jazz games.
Just a caveat to those of you thinking Russian = blond Nordic females... In most of Russia east of the Urals, Russian = Asiatic/Altaic... Yes. Swedish supermodels are nice, but would you like Mongolian?
You'd be suprised...There prolly are quite a few....I used to live in Baku, Azerbaijan, on the eastern coast of the Caspian...There were Indian people runnin a lot of businesses there...Little food marts being their specialty....
http://www.shanghaiist.com/archives/2005/06/16/jackie_chan_tak.php Jackie Chan: Take our women ... please! If you are a foreign man on the prowl for a Shanghainese bride, we've got good news for you: kung fu star Jackie Chan isn't going to stand in your way. In fact, if you send him your contact info -- and a photo, we assume -- he might even hook you up himself. It's all part of his diabolical plan to dropkick the globe with Chinese culture. (His attempt to accomplish this through mediocre movies has apparently failed.) Global wire services are running stories based on comments Chan made during the Shanghai International Film Festival. This is from the AP: "We can encourage more foreigners to marry Shanghai ladies so their children will be able to speak Chinese," Chan said at the Shanghai International Film Festival, the South China Morning Post reported on its front page. "It will help spread Chinese culture far and wide," he reportedly said. The paper reported that Chan didn’t say why his proposal singled out Shanghai women, and he offered no suggestions about how to implement his plan. While we're not sure if a single comment made at a film festival constitues an offical "plan," Chan's statement did strike us as a bit odd. And we're not sure who will be offended most: foreigners, Chinese or women in general. At least Chan doesn't come off quite as bad as Russian nationalist Vladimir Zhirinovsky, who recently drafted a bill that would write into law severe penalties for Russian girls or women who “unpatriotically” choose to marry a foreigner. What men does Zhirinovsky fear the most? Why Chinese men, of course. This is from Scotland's Sunday Herald: "He sees the biggest threat coming from Chinese men, many of whom have settled in Russia’s far east with Russian brides who appreciate the fact that their foreign husbands tend not to drink alcohol. 'If we don’t react now, in 50 or 100 years, the Chinese and the other Asian nations will be masters in our house and the Russians will become service staff.'"
