STEVE NASH (on the game) "We played hard but not great. It was a big game for them but not for us. Our guys just wanted to win the game. We didn't dictate the pace as well as we did in other games. We match up well with them. We seem to have the answers against this team." Am I reading between the lines or nash sounded litle cocky that they gave the game to us?

He just said it to stir the pot in Laker land...there should be a thread over there soon.... The Lakers hate everybody who's even brought up as being a fraction of what Kobe is perceived to be.
Not completely true. 2004-5' we went 2-2 against the Suns. Last season was a complete joke so I don't even count that. This year, ALL THREE prior games against PHO were back-to-backs. That is just plain evil. (Davis Stern is an a$$). So to say that PHO pwns us is a mischaracterization. It is that very reason why D'Antoni recently said that Houston is one of the only teams he is worried about because only Houston can successfully play a slow-it-down offense and still beat them. Look at this last game, PHO shot nearly 10% better than us yet we still won. It would be hard, but I think we could take PHO in the playoffs when the pace tends to slow down. The key is we gotta keep Yao on the court.
Classy indeed. I loved reading all of the quotes. As for the Nash comment, I go along with what Sishir and yipengzhao said. They have had our number for a long time now. That's what made the fact that the Suns didn't dial it in so sweet. They really wanted this one, and gave the props that were due when they lost. Just a great, great game. God, I love this time of year.
Yes, but it could also converts to pressure and players might start to become nervous. I reckon JVG is right about the home court advantage matters the most on the last game.
I think we played about as well as we can play, so to only beat the Suns at home by 3 points is a bit discouraging. At the same time, we never trailed in the game, and the Suns on their end also played very well. This gives me some confidence that we can at least be competitive against a team like the Suns if we meet in the playoffs. I was starting to doubt that.
please stop with the best of the best crap. it's at best, best of the better.. there's only one best people
ok so their average for this season is near 50% but 57 % is still far superior to their average and in the playoff the game tends to slow down and it is more like a half court game. you really think that during a seven game series they can shoot over 57% if they do so they would win the title without any fight.absurd just absurd no team can shoot 57% constantly.and no they only have 4 players shooting above 50%
Great quotes. I think both sides felt they played a great game, and that's what it should be about every night. Of course this time the better team won.
No, Nash is confusing the hell out of me too. Reading between the lines, Nash is saying that they tried hard to win the game, but not hard enough to win but the Suns still can match up well with the Rockets if they play like they wanted to win. ...Yeah, tough luck figuring that out. Oh Nash, what will you say next? Cryptic guy. "I didn't win the MVP. I got robbed. But Dirk is my best friend. If I dictated the pace better I would've won it. I tried to win it. But I didn't win it. But if I tried to win it, I would've won it. Still, Dirk is my best friend. Oh wait, Dirk didn't win it? WHO the HELL is Yao Ming?...Dirk is my best friend."
Totally agree. It's just like JVG said when people say, "Houston could be dangerous.." TRANSLATION- we're not good enough to win a championship. Most of the Suns' compliments were backhanded, that's the plain truth. Hey, Phoenix: 1976 and 1993.
I wonder if he'd say that to kobe, since they were in less friendly terms during last year's playoff.
i'll let nash slide with that comment because no other team owns us as hard as the suns. its just the truth.
this is a good percpetion we need to keep in mind if we play them to get to the finals.. where's that D'antoni quote by the way....i don't know where to look for that.
Had to laugh at the Rowdies chanting MVP while Mac was being interviewed and you could see Mac trying not to laugh
