When was the last time the Rockets lost a playoff series in which they held the home court advantage?
1987 v. Seattle in the 2nd round perhaps Hakeem's/Akeem's best playoff game performance ever most heart breaking loss I've ever had to watch
Which loss to Seattle was tougher to take, the one in 1987, the one in 1993, or the one in 1996? http://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/NBA_1993.html West Conf Semis (4-3): Seattle Supersonics over Houston Rockets Game 1 (1993-05-10 at SEA) SEA 99, HOU 90 SEA leads 1-0 Game 2 (1993-05-12 at SEA) SEA 111, HOU 100 SEA leads 2-0 Game 3 (1993-05-15 at HOU) HOU 97, SEA 79 SEA leads 2-1 Game 4 (1993-05-16 at HOU) HOU 103, SEA 92 Tied 2-2 Game 5 (1993-05-18 at SEA) SEA 120, HOU 95 SEA leads 3-2 Game 6 (1993-05-20 at HOU) HOU 103, SEA 90 Tied 3-3 Game 7 (1993-05-22 at SEA) SEA 103, HOU 100 SEA wins 4-3 Where a phantom call cost us the game in regulation and a no-call against SA cost us homecourt for the series when every home team won? http://www.basketball-reference.com/playoffs/NBA_1996.html West Conf Semis (4-0): Seattle Supersonics over Houston Rockets Game 1 (1996-05-04 at SEA) SEA 108, HOU 75 SEA leads 1-0 (Box Score) Game 2 (1996-05-06 at SEA) SEA 105, HOU 101 SEA leads 2-0 (Box Score) Game 3 (1996-05-10 at HOU) SEA 115, HOU 112 SEA leads 3-0 (Box Score) Game 4 (1996-05-12 at HOU) SEA 114, HOU 107 SEA wins 4-0 (Box Score) This one ended our back-to-back run...at home...via a sweep. I vote 93 because I wanted to see those Rockets take out Barkley and his Suns and then play Jordan and his Bulls in the Finals! The 96 loss was tough to take because it ended our run, but that fourth quarter comeback, down 3-0, was something that'll always be with me when it comes to responding to adversity, never giving up, and playing like a champion.
1987 was the toughest for me. 1) It was pretty much the end of our short run of success with the twin towers. Lew and Wig were suspended earlier in the season and Ralph was gone the next. It took 6-7 for us to get back to being a contender. 2) I stayed up will 1:30 am that morning, watching that double OT heartbreaker, where Akeem "The Team" put the whole city on his back and almost willed his team to a victory. I cried afterwards.
1993 was the heartbreaker for me. knowing we shouldve had homecourt and then losing in ot in game 7. kenny had the shot in regulation to win, was wide open in the corner and bricked it short. a few bad calls didnt help either. i know that team couldve taken charles the distance and even had a chance to beat the suns.
