It's to gain some insight on Tmac, the person. The fans feel more attached to a team when they feel like they know the players. So far, Tmac "the player" has overshadowed Tmac the "person". I think Rockets.com feels that the fans don't know him well enough, so they are trying to showcase him a bit to sell some tickets. Being a great player is not enough to sell. Fans are more loyal when they identify with the players.
This is not a recent interview. They did one long interview and cut up it into different section and have been showing a part every few weeks.
