I read a post here saying that Yao was 240 pounds when he did a workout in Chicago before the draft 5 years ago.
I don't think so. At the NBA pre-draft measurements, which were held right around the same time as his workout, Yao weighed in at 296 so the article has it right. http://nbadraft.net/2002predraftmeasurements.htm
Received my copy in the mail yesterday. Someone should post that picture in the article when Yao is shooting the free throw (looks like a technical because everyone is standing behind Yao), and both the Pacers and Rockets players have this look like, "Yao shoots the technicals?? Dayum!"
Exactly. I think that percentage presumed by wong is not as accurate as someone believe. Actually i just heard about this guy few times from this bbs, maybe i usually put most of attention on american authorities following yao. IMO, 90% of chinese second yao.
I think Yao benching 310 is not super impressive. It's good no doubt, but someone should be able to bench at least their own body weight.
what a liar you are! I'm from Sichuan, China, got my college degree in Shanghai and left for US. According to my own experience, what you post here is just cheating. Let me ask you one simple question, are local folks in your hometown nice to farmer labors? Just tell me, yes or no. Dare you say yes? Despite that condition is being improved greatly in recent years, the truth is farmer labors are working like slaves in every China city. Should I draw an conclusion people from your province are RUDE?
wow thats a nice view of tigers shot.. the club didn't look that bent on tv, its crazy how it pretty much wrapped around the tree. too bad he didn't have his 4iron the next hole

I love this article - the best about Yao that I've ever read! I especially loved what Thibodeau was saying about his confidence level. He's broken through the mental barrier that separates the superstars from the non-superstars. He owns the title of "most-dominant" for the forsee-able future. It's also interesting to see the rivalry developing between him and Dwight Howard. Good to see that Yao strives to be not just his best, but the best, by surveying the competition. With Amare back to his unstoppable self and Greg Oden waiting at the threshold, we're in for another "golden age" of big men with Yao as king.
I believe yours is official. But I did read one article saying something like "on one occasion, 300-pound Christoffersen pushed 240-pound Ming away for a jumper" (not the exact words). I am unable to find the one I read before, but here is another reference to it: http://espn.go.com/nba/s/2002/0501/1376913.html It did mention that Yao Ming was listed once by the NBA as around 240 pounds in weight.
I find it finally! Here it is: http://nypost.com/sports/knicks/15487.htm http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=32861&highlight=2002+draft+ming
