Two years ago it was Mike James.
Last year it was Stromile Swift.
This year it is(was) Bonzi Wells.

Our search for the 3rd scorer... :(

James and Wells were adequate 3d scorers on this team. They just didn't workout for whatever reason. Swift just flat out sucked.

Next year: Kevin Garnett or Rashard Lewis.

No. It's easy to say in retrospect that it was all about Bonzi's attitude, mentality, etc. The groin injury before the season was step 1 to the whole mess. Everything after that originated from the injury. I'm not forgiving Bonzi or saying he deserves no blame. Leaving the team like that? Pathetic. I really thought after all this mess, he'd finally get some time and help us in the playoffs after all. But if the groin injury started everything. You are wrong if you can't accept that. I agree with the rest of your post.

As much as Rockets fans (myself included) wish Rafer was a much better shooter, had better shot selection at times, and didn't attempt quite as many 3s, I'll give him credit for playing hard and being a professional.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about Bonzi Wells. Good riddance.

Everything did not originate from the injury. Not that it wasn't part of the whole mess... or even a big part, it was, but I do not accept that all of this (including this last week?) is because he had a groin injury, and I don't think that's wrong. We can agree to disagree on that point. I do see your reasoning, but I also think he could have handled things better from the start.

I think we're all disappointed it didn't go better, regardless of the reasons. I also might add, in his pseudo defense, that we probably don't know half of the story... but it really doesn't matter. All he had to do was what he signed a contract to do. Maybe he didn't like it, but you oughtta suck it up. For your pride... for your teammates... for the fans... for your marketability... for a better paycheck... whatever. Do your time if that's how you want to look at it. Instead, he made excuses until he couldn't even be on the team anymore.

That's a double standard. Of course Rafer acts like a professional cause JVG gives him 40 mins a game no matter what. He may get a small benching here and there, but he'll still get that 40 mins again the next game. Bonzi was never afforded that luxury. Rafer is only professional cause he knows he'll play regardless. When things don't go rafer's way, he's a malcontent who fights with his coach as shown in toronto and is the reason they traded him. Until you see rafer with low minutes consistently, you can't make any judgement on his attitude.

You missed the point. I'm *NOT* judging Rafer for what happened in Toronto. There's no point in doing so. I'm basing my comments on how he has performed as a Rocket, which is really all that matters as far as Houston is concerned. Same goes for Bonzi. As a Rocket, he was a f*cking waste of a roster spot (and $2.1M) this season.

Besides, in the final analysis, would you really want a player who is content to sit on the bench and collect a paycheck and not give a damn whether he received PT at all? If that's what you want, the University of Michigan has lots of those players.

Yes if that player sucks like rafer. No if the player is good like bonzi and deserves playing time.

Also you missed the point. Rafer has been terrible this year, but still gets huge minutes cause he has zero accountability on this team. Therefore, it's impossible to make a judgement of rafer's attitude this year based on the fact he can do whatever he wants out there without any consequences and therefore has no reason to complain.

Actually, he gets huge minutes because he performs twice as well as his backups.

i am guessing most of the big contracts in the nba is due to perfomances like this during contract year.

get over it..he had one good playoff series against spurs..whoopdi do.

Which again points to his zero accountability, cause of JVG's refusal to play vspan who is better than rafer. When your coach doesn't play your main competition, then you know you have it easy.

Sample size too small and he hasn't gotten a chance. I've seen enough of rafer to know that he's the worst starting pg in the league by far.
